@roogbass a little off topic but have you ever tried AV (Vychodil) basses? Seems to fit your bill for boutique Jazz 5 with European tilt to it (like DeGier). Would be interested to hear your thoughts on them

Yes I tried a 5string P bass at bassmatters, it was a good bass. But didn’t try it long enough and in a mix situation to really know how good it is. That’s why I like to make the clips, you really hear how a bass sits in the mix. Especially since I use RX9 to remove the original bass.
 
First off, I am glad/sad that I actually can hear the differences. Ignorance is much cheaper :D
For me the Sadowsky sounded the best. The Fodera stuck out as probably a great soloists instrument! Would love to hear the same basses played over the neck pickup too.
