Short scale bass to baritone guitar

So, I'm out of projects and had an idea. My guitarist has an epiphone SG bass (not sure the model) that's a 30.5" scale that he's looking to get rid of for cheap. Would it be possible to turn it into a baritone guitar, similar to the fender bass vi? Obviously it would need new everything. I imagine the biggest issue would be the nut, getting one that would fit the neck. Any thoughts on this?

Definitly a possible project. One big problem is getting all six string to fit on the neck, because if the bass has a skinny neck you might have trouble. I would check, before buying, to see if a guitar bridge would fit and provide string spacing that fits on the neck.

The toughest part will not the nut, but getting six guitar tuners to fit in the space of the 4 bass tuners. What are you going to do about the 4 existing holes that are too big for guitar tuners? You could fill them with wood and glue and hope for the best...

This won't necessarily be cheap either!

The SG has a 1.65" nut width, which is the same as a strat for example, so it's perfectly workable for a relatively tight bari spacing. This will work, but you'll need to find a bridge that give you the right height to match what the 3point does on an EB3. It will also be unlikely that a guitar bridge will cover the holes left from the bridge, but you can probably get creative. The holes in the headstock can just be filled with plugs and then redrilled for six. There are lots of examples available through google... :)
