I find it hard to get over the tiny, toy-like appearance of these basses. I know shorties are great to play and sound terrific, etc. but they sure look like Barbie’s boyfriend Ken decided to get himself a bass guitar.

Would it be too much to ask for EBMM to make a medium-scale StingRay (32" scale)?

These basses look great. I see nothing toy-like about them. It's not like a strat looks toy-like, and it's way shorter. Plus, if people say the bass looks small, you can just say you're compensating ;-)

So my short scale starry night should be arriving in the next few hours and just got a quote from EBMM customer service for ordering black hardware for it.

Apparently they don’t yet make a control plate for the Short Scale model in Black but all the other parts are available for purchase in black. The bridge and neck plate have to be returned before they will sell those two pieces but the rest can be ordered ahead of time it would appear.

time to try and find an aftermarket control panel that will fit!

Opened it up and man this thing is beautiful. Stoked to find it did in fact come with a hard case. The fit and finish is superb. At 7lbs 9oz this thing is way way way way lighter than my SBMM SS in Olympic White. It feels great in hand. The balance is PERFECT no neck dive AT all. Out the box it was pretty much in tune but the action is a little high for my liking and appears to be in a little truss rod adjustment probably due to traveling from IN to TN and then Las Vegas heat. I’m taking it in for a setup on Monday when I take my SBMM in for inspection/upgrades. This thing is crazy nice. Definitely on the level of quality build of my PRS CE24 Guitar at least. The neck feels gorgeous. I do wish they were more artistic with their dividing line from finish to unfinished on the neck. On that section there is one small spot that if I feel is a small bump where it wasn’t sanded as flush as it is on the other side but it’s not photographable and not on the playable area so I think it’s more just “character” of the bass. The roasted maple is way darker in person and the variation between unfinished/finished line comes off less dramatic in person than in pics. The tuners are amazing on this thing. So smooth. Light years ahead of the tuners on the SBMM. Didn’t have time to plug her in before work. Sorry for any spelling/format errors as I’m about to run into work but I cannot wait to come home and plug her in and really see how she plays.

Your Starry night SS looks great Aj..congrats! I bet the sparkle looks amazing in person.. Mine was suppose to be here today..Paid for 2 day shipping but it never showed up..Still in transit here to Vegas...I was sure it would arrive today with yours since we both ordered the same night and it shipped the same day to the same city and we both paid for 2 day shipping. Not a fan of FedEx at this moment (we need a sad emoji)... Fingers crossed it shows up tomorrow :)
