Should I have a bagel?

I was just going to boil up a can of soup for a late snack and I noticed the wife brought home some bagels.

I haven't had a bagel in three weeks or more. My choices of spread if I decide to have one are butter or Philly "chive" cream cheese.

My soup selection is Progresso. I'm pondering the watered down split pea (for some reason NO HAM) or the watered down, yet ever popular "lentil".

My girlfriend actually brought a dozen New York bagels down to Memphis for New Years. I absolutely love egg everything bagels from up north, but you can't find them anywhere down south (that I'm aware of). Heck, you can't find any decent bagels anywhere in the south. I plan on learning how to make them myself because, once you have the real thing, nothing else compares ;)

Oh, and Philly cream cheese is pretty bad once you have some 'homemade' stuff. It's still better than anything else you'll find in the south, though :ninja:

Happy new year everyone! I'm here to report that I consumed 1 and 1/4 bagel. I burnt the first bagel using my toaster oven method of first pre-toasting the bagel, then ovening it to melt the butter. Precisely two (2) bites were salvageable of said bagel.

The other I did not burn, and enjoyed quite profoundly. Thank you all for the input. I don't know what I would have done without such a valuable resource regarding bagel consumption. Much to my delight, TalkBass has proven to be just that!

Edit: I misspelled some stuff

go to the grocery store and get a can of pillsbury "whack ums" and make them yourself

Commonly called "thwock biscuits" in this house, because you thwock the can on the edge of the countertop to open it.

Not that these are ever eaten in this fine dining establishment known as our kitchen. No. Never. Along with aerosol cheese, mac-in-a-box, Progresso soup, or store-bought "bagels."
