Should I sell the P Bass?

We are getting ready to move and I've been going through a lot of stuff accumulated over the years. A question to help with such tasks that I've picked up somewhere is, "Does it bring you joy". Hold the bass, examine it, play it. If the answer to that question is, "No", then sell it. If the answer is "Yes", then keep it and save up for another bass.

They really are. I had a bassist approach me last night at our gig. He said he also played a Pbass...and absolutely loved the look and sound of my bass. We talked for a while and said he'd never heard of the Fender Midnight Precision

I own a P Bass. Its a very good P bass. However, I don't know if it is MY P Bass....

I really like it, except that it doesn't have an asymmetrical neck profile, and it doesn't have a maple fretboard, and it doesn't have a J pickup added.

I also have other nice basses, none of which are passive P basses.

If I were to sell this and run into one of the sound men that I hear about on TalkBass, I would lose gigging opportunities and be laughed out of countless establishments.

No pictures for you! This is not a "sly" for-sale ad, so I wont provide specs or pics. But its rosewood, Sunburst on alder, and tort. Yes, It has the tort.
If sold I would lose money on it. But that is money I already do not have.

What say you lot: Do I sell the P Bass?

Have you played it at a gig yet? You don’t really know an instrument until you play it at a gig.

I know it's a hard thing to contemplate, having sold what was, to me, a perfect Precision, (and if it wasn't for my need to go short scale I'd have kept that for ever) but if it's not right, it's not right.

It sounds like you know what you want so go find it.

Sounds like every aspect of this P bass is wrong and uncomfortable for you. If that is the case, and I really don't care what brand, year, type ect. of bass it is, then sell it and get the one YOU feel comfortable with, no one else.

Hang on to your existing P. Take your time to find another that is more appealing to you. When you have a renewed love affair with another P-bass, then reconsider selling your present P, This way, fewer regrets. Do not at anytime be P-less.

My girlfriend has been doing this with every single CD she owns, ranging back from when she worked in a record store to when she worked at Metro in Chicago. We’re hoping her car fits into the garage by the end of summer.

I need a p-bass, for those "don't over think this" or plug and go moments. Which as I've aged, have come to dominate. One pickup, two knobs, strings that don't need to be changed.
