Should I wait for the Promethean P3115 ????

After doing some research about a new combo I'm almost decided to buy the GK MB115

By accident today I found that Ibanez Promethean P3115 will be available around March.

I want a combo in the 40 pounds weight and kind of compact.

The Promethean has 100 watts more.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.:help:

I finally ordered a P5110 from GC. They didn't have any on the store.

1 x 10 $700 vs 1 x 15 $400 ?

I notice the 3115 has no line output and no eq and is only 300 w compared to the p5110 with 500 w.
Don't know if I did the right choice. ?

Thanks for your answers.

As an owner of the current Promethean combo (which is a remarkable thing), the new Promethean feels like a bit of a downgrade. I wonder why they've done it..?

I agree with your opinion although I like the amp with bigger cabs than the 1X10. I think Ibanez decided to move the amp out of the 500 watt micro class because it just wasn't competing well enough. Dropping some features makes it cheaper and probably retains some of the tonal charcteristics making it a more attractive buy in a cheaper segment.

+1. I love my Promethean 110 combo. But, the new ones do look like a downgrade. And it looks like the new ones don't have the head as a detachable item. That would definitely take it off my list.

I played a gig with just my 110 on Sunday. Me and a guitarist/singer, playing background music at a fundraiser with probably 60'ish people. The 110 by itself was PLENTY!

I think I'm going to stick to the 1 x 10. I love the detachable head and my 500w. This is the real deal.

Just ordered/bought one today from AMS. Hoping that it meets my need for a combo that's loud, big-bottomed, and lightweight. If it doesn't, I'll return it for a small fee.
Have owned/tried and either sold or returned GK MB212, GK MB112, Eden E15, and Carvin MB15 to no avail.
My Carvin BX500 head and BR118-4 cab meet my needs soundwise, but I need a combo for small venues and loading convenience.

Got the Promethean P3115 today. Have played with it for 2 hours. VERY impressed. I find it superior, in all ways, to other "new gen" lightweight bass amps I've either played or owned (that includes GK MB115, Eden E15, GKMB212, and Carvin MB15). Paid $362. 300-watts at 4 ohm (all internal; no external jack). 38 lbs on the bathroom scale, and dimensionally between the two GKs in size. Great, warm bottom. A striking difference over those others is the fit & finish and quality look and feel of this amp. From the dials/knobs, to the covering, to the fit of cables---like viewing/sitting in a Lexus as opposed to a Corolla. I play it at a gig tonight.

The Promethean P3115 was fantastic at a 3.5 hour gig last night. Plenty of head room, deep low warm bottom. Volume used @ 4 on a 10 scale, yet filled the room. Compact sized helped us to fit in the tight stage footprint.

If a full 300 watts into an internal 4 ohm 15" speaker in a small lightweight package meets your needs, check this new amp out.
