HELLO!!! Why are you compelled to post any comments. Just stay away from those threads and your life may be better for it. Sarcastic comments on any subject does no one any good except the poster of said sarcastic comments for whatever it brings emotionally.

Sorry, I can't. I said it before and I'll say it again, you're a better man than I am.

I think any idiot that thinks wood doesn't effect the tone of an electric instrument should be banned

You see, name calling has started and we're not even discussing it here!

Last tone thread I posted in I got five for fighting from the mods...no more head banging for me, but it's easy to get sucked in isn't it??? :D

ahhh, now you see my side of things. can't resist the temptation.

Yeah, that's right. Do you think wood doesn't effect the tone? I've never followed your threads so I don't know where you stand. If you don't believe wood matters and appears as though I called you an idiot, I apologize.

I don't believe he saying that whatsoever. He's referring to the subject being removed from LC, because of alot of unnecessary problems, your post for example. Read before you post.

It doesn't matter where I stand and I didn't think you were calling me directly an "idiot". But you illustrate my point beautifully. You have unknowingly validated my vote!

Just FYI, people have gotten infractions and even banned from the site for using derrogatory terms to referr to a fellow forum member.

Yeah, I've received infractions before. Don't care;) I know what you're saying but agree with others, if you don't like the tone wood discussion threads nobody makes you read them. I don't think you have a valid point, so sorry, I validated nothing for you. What I dislike most about the luthiers corner is how so many(not you) beginner hacks come in here after they've sawed a few pieces of wood and try to pass off their info like they're some kind of experts.

This too happens, I am one of those "beginner hacks", though I can say I'm not an expert, but I believe I received good advice from a few experts who do give me some good advice from the LC.
So it's not all about that is it?

How about a sticky with the usual resources that people frequently post such as the Warmoth site, etc.

I find the tone threads to be a bit of a problem, because they are so subjective it seems that there is little to be gained from them save confusion.

PS: I will cast a vote too.

Huh...I wish I'd thought of that.

:hiding:

perhaps we should ban talking about basses and strings and amps and music etc ...

Please don't take this further down the road that was so obviously not intended.

While perhaps you could argue with the wording or the strenuousness of it, Wilser has every right to express his frustration with the repetition of a topic he perhaps feels has been beaten to death (my words and assumptions). AFAIK, there are no plans to ban discussion of the relationship between wood and tone. There are no plans to ban people for discussing it. There always the option of banning people for bashing eachother for their beliefs.

If it'll make anyone feel better, I'll be happy to compile a list of links to previous threads on the topic (and sticky it), but I will not create a list which is biased...i.e. one which is only made up of links to threads which support the idea of a relationship between wood and tone or one which links to threads of the opposite ideology.

That link should be "at the ready" when questions regarding bass building come up. I would not be a bit suprised by the fact that many people did not know that thread existed; TB is a pretty big place and there is much info here to peruse.

Hi Keith,

Are you referring to the link I put in my post just above yours? That is a link to the FAQ's, which is stickied at the very top of the LC. I don't think there's anyplace more appropriate here, but am open to suggestions :).
