I remember back when that was all most radios had. "Turn down that tone I wanna hear some bass!":p but then they came out with the 3 band EQ complete with sliding faders, it changed my life...... AWESOME!

Nope, they shouldn't be banned.

Why?

So what if most of it is opinion? Should we ban discussion on tone in the pickups, basses and amps forums aswell? Thats all mostly opinion aswell.

If you want to get into proper reasoning, Im sure some of us could relate tone to physical properties of the wood, stiffness, strength, density etc etc.

With all due respect, I think this poll is laughable at worst. This may sound worse than I intend, but I think education works better than censorship. Man, there are stickies on other things, the topic of tone is such a big thing but there is no sticky.

The notion of banning and censoring communication between people is not a very nice thing, especially on a topic many would like to understand better reeks of dodginess. Imagine telling a child or even a student what they genuinely seek to understand is off topic, banned and they're never to speak of it to anyone - you're kidding right... :)

Yes, I agree those threads can get a little heated, but that's natual for a difficult topic. This also brings out some good posts and explanations. Although it can peak on the emotive side, it is also made worse by some posts from some who know better but decide to spin BS directly or by omission.

It has already been mentioned. Organise with the Moderator to make real attempt at educating people on this topic a sticky, detailing as many facts and relevant opinions on the topic. This way, it would limit the threads. Anyone starting one, would be refered to the sticky.
