Show me some light basses!

I have back problems, so most of my basses are 8 lbs. or less. Here are some:

Peavey G, 7lbs:

Yamaha BBN4A 8lbs:

Epiphone Rumblekat, 6 1/2lbs, Schecter Hellcat Bass VI, 8 lbs., Danelectro, 5 lbs.:

'76 Gibson Thunderbird (I have two), 7 1/2 lbs.:

Lakland Skyline JO4, 8 lbs.:

'87 Gibson IV, 7 lbs.:

I also have a Fender Zone that weighs 7 lbs.

It is pretty huge, but it's only about 1 & 1/4" thick, which, when combined with a nice, light piece of mahogany, makes for a startlingly light bass.

This would be the lightest Bass I own. An 85 Ibanez Axstar.

yea... i can see how it would be light... but isn't that the one that flea was complaining abt on the danny california video shoot thing?

anyone have the weight specs of a danelectro?

2nd the MTDs. I have an Artist 5 that weighs very little (don't know the #). Every MTD I've tried has surprised me by how lightweight they are.

Chef, nice Reverend collection! I've never played one; how do you like them?

Other than Lionel Richie's Dancin on the Ceiling video, I've NEVER seen an Axstar used by anyone. I've never seen the RHCP's using one or the Danny California video shoot. My Axstar plays like a dream and is quite the little tone monster!! I would NEVER part with it!!!


Danelectros are WEIGHTLESS!!

i stand corrected... i still dont know what it is, but its close to that. Its during the Goth part of the video. but it has a headstock and even less body iirc

I kept stopping the video and still can't figure out what it is! When they first cut to that part of the song, the headstock is in the pic. It's an odd looking reverse headstock. The body is pointy at the bottom sort of like a Jackson V but it seems to have a long top horn based on where his strap is attached I'm sure someone would recognize it by the headstock but I have NO idea what it is!!

It's lighter than my Les Paul guitar. Sounds quite fat though.
