Did the one on the right come with three pickups like that? What model is it?

Yeah. Those are the stock Lace Sensors. It's a USA Fender HM - 5-way, TBX tone control. IIRC, it's date stamped is mid June of 1990.

When I got it, the body was an aged white, black headstock. The body paint had large flaky chips and was in rough shape. It also had some rough gouges in the body, hence the refin. Initially, I also swapped the stock black hardware for chrome. The chrome looked alright with nickel strings but not the nylons. I really dig it with the black hardware and nylons. That bass has been receiving the bulk of play time for the past year.

Nice. Can you select just that middle pickup by itself? How much did that bass cost?

Fender Classic '70s Jazz Bass

I may be in the minority, but I find I prefer a black guard with a burst finish. I love that this comes stock with that configuration, almost as much as I love the vintage radius fretboard. The blocks and binding are a bonus!

I did a custom job on the edging of the pickguard. It used to be black/white/black. Now it's got a blue/purple scarab effect. The process is as insanely inexpensive as it is beautiful!

I posted my current burst basses on page two of this thread, I already have parts and pieces on the way to put together another one.

So... when I woke up this morning I had no intention of buying another bass today. But there it was, on craigslist staring right back at me. I owned a Peavey Dyna a while back. It was charcoal grey, had a rosewood neck, and played nice. I never really became friends with the active electronics on it and I do prefer maple finger boards. So, I sold it.

At the time I wondered out loud if I'd like a Foundation better. Especially one with a maple neck. And... I really prefer natural or burst finishes...

Anyway... there it was, just sitting there taunting me. I gave it a lot of thought, it really was exactly the Foundation that I'd want if I were still looking for a Foundation.

I went and checked it out. The seller (a nice guy) bought it new. It was all there, with the case. In pretty good condition for a 27 year old bass. And the price was fair...

It followed me home. I need to give it a good cleaning and setup, but it is very cool.
