Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Tell me more about the Md-200. Not too many videos with bass. How is it?
Personally I'm not a fan of most modulation effects for bass (I bought the MD for guitar in the beginning). But it has a bass mode, which affects some of the effects, i.e. auto-wah, which is one of my favourites for bass. The overtone is an interesting effect, as it can act like an up/down octaver with additional detune. If you want a JPJ heartbreaker sound, the rotary does that. The rotary in particular also provides an overdrive, where one of the parameter knobs controls the amount of drive. Sounds pretty neat! Other than that I don't use very much of it, some Chorus from time to time, which works fine I think (I prefer the "normal" chorus for bass). For "swoosh"-like sounds I prefer the auto-wah over the flanger and phaser. Both are great sounding with bass, too, but not my cup of tea.

First post on Talkbass, here's my current compact board. Got the AfterShock today, I like it a lot. Especially the heavy setting does a great job for my taste. So far I only used the pedal's hardware functionality. Will try the neuro app tomorrow.View attachment 3952285

Bruh...stereo inputs on the MD-200? Put the Aftershock right before it, use Neuro to send fuzz left and gritty OD right into a stereo mods. Like two demons growling into each ear.

[edit: thought, with the Tap switch, the MD200 was a delay. Stereo modulations with two different dirts is still rad.]

thanks! every time I go looking for modulation I drool all over the Md-200, but end up with something different. It will now go again on my GAS list

This is the nastiest, noisiest, most vile pedal ever made....

gotta make space for it...

Well, they’re close together, so I guess it’s compact in that way...
And here I always felt my 8-pedal board pushed the definition of "Compact" for this thread....

Question to anyone on a configuration change I'm looking to do when NPD comes in a couple weeks:

bass > Tuner > Compressor > Chorus/Flanger > Octaver > Reverb/Delay > Preamp1 > Preamp2 > Preamp3/DI > Preamp4 > amp
  • The NPD is a Compressor that will replace my current Keeley
  • The Octaver and Delay are not currently on the board and will replace an Eden GlowPlug sadly as I will be out of space
  • I will be adding a switch/looper to route around the Octave and Delay because they are Boss which degrade the signal when not in use
While I get it that everyone has different preferences and it helps to try things out, my pedal board, an Accel which I quite like, is a PITA for doing what/if configs, made more difficult as things are very tight as I've maxxed out the space and because I use DoubleLock.

My questions are:
  1. How is the proposed signal chain?
  2. Should I move the Chorus to after either or both the Octaver and Delay?
The actual components are:
bass > TC PolyTune3 > Broughton Monocomp Compressor > TC Chorus/Flanger > Boss OC-2 Octaver > Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay > Broughton Super Stack Preamp1 > Broughton SV-Pre Preamp2 > Broughton Messenger Preamp3/HPF/LPF/DI > Broughton RFE HPF/LPF > amp

I'd put the Octaver before the Chorus but that's just me.
