Show me your compact pedalboard setup

When you get your MBD2 back you can swap MBDs and have room for one more.

Are you liking your SLO as much as I'm liking mine?

Your mini board is somewhere near where mine will be eventually. I'm on a Nano+ with Wonderlove, Octabvre, Doom, and SLO currently. I don't feel a need for a comp with the SLO but want to add MBD2, Utility Knife, and a tuner. I think I can do it on a Metro 16 and wouldn't want to get much bigger than that.

I’m still waiting on the board itself (ordered a PedalPad AXSIII Mini), but here’s my current chain. Just building a a mini digital board now.

On the board itself, I may end up putting the C4 / Aftershock in the effects loop.

i also ordered a small dual momentary switch as an add on for the HX Stomp. It should be in before the board.

My mini-pedal board has been pretty much unchanged for the past 10 months and I've enjoyed getting to grips with the fewer pedals that were on it.

With the recent addition of a couple of Boss pedals i.e. the OC-5 and RC-5, which is an upgrade from the compact and excellent value Lekato Looper I've been using, I've reverted to my PT Metro 24 powered by a HB Iso12 Pro underneath.

I thought I'd give this line-up a go without a dedicated comp. Tbf there are several comp models and a limiter in the fx patches I've got in the versatile Zoom B1-4 multi fx sitting proudly at the heart of the board, so I still have plenty of options should I need. That's allowed space to reinstate the excellent Mosaic octave-up; the Thumpinator is also back in at the start of the signal chain to hpf out any low end "crud" and the Mastotron is there in place of my Red Ripper, partly because it also sounds great and partly 'cos it takes less space!

But I guess it's now very much borderline whether it still manages to sneak into the "small" category!

I'm confused by those who put HPF at the beginning of the chain when they also have Octave or other low-end inducing pedals afterwards. Do those not reintroduce low-end frequencies that could be problematic? Not knocking, just trying to understand.
Honestly, I put HPF in both places:

I don't want the suboctaver trying to suboctave(or other effects trying to track) those lower frequencies, so cut at the start.

I also don't want it to introduce more silly low frequencies, so at the end too.

It's a very fair question. Completely agree with the answer above.
You're stripping out low end crud at the start and giving the rest of your pedals a cleaner signal to bite on. The octave pedal certainly won't be always on.

Would you guys say the HPF at the beginning of the chain could/should be a set frequency? Vs variable to respond to room acoustics? At that point, I wonder if one could build a small HFP into the bass itself? Or a smaller, set circuit in a 1590LB enclosure at the beginning?
Another key point you raise! For me there are two key functions for an HPF:

1. Firstly to eliminate low end sub sonic "crud" below 20Hz, which just takes up speaker energy with little to show for it. That's exactly what the Thumpinator is doing; it starts cutting at 28Hz and below and importantly for me leaving the low B string fundamental at 31Hz unaffected;

2. Variable HPFs are typically are set a lot higher to start cutting at 80Hz to 120Hz and are then being used to also tighten up your sound and prevent undesirable boominess.

Personally I'm comfortable with using the EQ options on my bass, pedals and amp for tone shaping i.e. (2) and using my HPF just for (1). Others will want to use them for both.

I say after. The mdb2 isn't tracking notes, so it shouldn't be affected by that issue where HP before helps a lot. I think you'd get more benefit after (or end of chain possibly to clean up all your signal)
I want it before my compressor which is right before my preamp/DI. So, MS60B >MBD2 >HLPF>Union LAB>SpectraDrive .
