Show me your compact pedalboard setup

The primary reason I am wireless is because I am prone to tripping over or getting tangled up in cables - not because I am playing massive stages in arenas. I would strongly recommend against the Xvive. Save your money for a system that is not 2.4GHz.
I thought I was the only one! After tripping a couple times on very cramped stages, I ended up going wireless. Haven’t tripped since (or at least not because of a cord).

That said, I got a Boss WL-20, which is also 2.4GHz, and have had absolutely no problems with noise or interference. It has been rock solid every gig and every venue. I mean, it’s a chunk more money and doesn’t bend at the jack, but it auto-selects between a bunch of channels in the spectrum at startup, so may be better at avoiding interference. I dunno, but it seems to work. The WL-20 is available on Amazon with free returns, so might be worth a try.

I use the same Boss unit and so far, no issues. I’ve been using it for a couple years now. I went wireless shortly after my guitarist did. He did it because he got shocked. I didn’t want to ride the lightning or trip, but I found it also eliminated hum that some of my basses have. Major plus!

My compact pedalboard. Slightly modified/minimized from my previous post.

Hey man thanks for asking. THe Xvive works fine for when I practice at home but anytime I am playing where there is WIFI it is pretty much useless. There have been shows where I can use it with just some background high-pitched hum. The last couple of shows it has been pretty much worthless as I not only have the high-pitched hum but it interferes with the wireless for my bass which is completely unacceptable.

I don't wanna de-rail the thread more than we've already done, but here I go anyways...

@DELACIUS I've been using the XVive U2 system myself for over a year now, and it's been absolutely brilliant thus far. Have taken it on international tour, played outdoor stages, big concert halls, little pubs, and most sized venues in between. Never once has there been an issue with noise/interrupted signals. Battery life has been quite strong, too.

I'll be honest, I was hugely skeptical, since the name of the company looks alarmingly like a sex toy, and I'd never heard of them. But so far no problems!

Actually, that's not true. When I have this one student come over for bass lessons, and *only* when he is over for bass lessons, the signal has cut in/out on me before. I can't recreate the issue at home when he isn't here, nor has it happened at any other place under any other circumstances... maybe it's his gravitational field? LOL.

And, to make sure that I've at least attempted to *re*-rail the thread, here's my compact pedalboard (complete with XVive receiver!) from a gig Tuesday night. In this case, I'm meaning "compact" in the sense that all the pedals are smooshed in right close in on each other, with there being (almost) no wasted space on the board.

I had the XVive then went to the Boss.

In both cases, it was great on guitar, but I heard a high-pitched whine on my StingRay, though more noticeable on the XVive than the Boss. I don't know if this is a wifi issue --- I've also heard it's an active bass issue.

I use the Boss regularly with guitar but use a cable with bass.

All of the basses I have used with this setup are passive and have produced the high-pitched squeal. It's not a loud squeal but it's definitely attention getting. To be clear the squeal is only in my IEM's and not through my rig or FOH. The cutting out of the bass signal is both IEM's as well as FOH and my rig.

I decided to update one of my boards. Here's the old setup:

I'd like to add some kind of reverb/delay - maybe a Keeley Caverns or Earthquaker Dispatch Master V3 or perhaps a Nux Atlantic if I want to save a little money. All three get good reviews, though the Earthquaker will probably fit the best into the open space. Or I may just go with a different board so everything fits.

Weird thing happened with the Dunlap volume pedal. The glue from the velcro reacted with the rubber bottom and it turned into a sticky mess. Took me a while to clean it up. I tried to pull off the rubber bottom from the aluminum, but no joy. I may just order a piece of aluminum and cut a new bottom, sans rubber.

Anyway, any input about the reverb/delay would be appreciated. I still have to wire this up with signal and power, all from a Cioks DC7, my favorite power supply.

Dispatch Master. Some have reported it (earlier versions) may distort with hot input. I have v2, and have not experienced that issue. I alternate between it and the CC mini.

In about a week, I'll finally getting together with my guitar player to record in person. Everything we've done over the last year or so has been online. I'll be taking my G&L Kiloton 5.

This board should cover just about everything I need for these sessions. I might expand to a Nano max one day. Also, not convinced that the Randy's Revenge works well in this setup. I might sub a fuzz for it, or go in another direction entirely and put a vibrato or phaser after the filter. Need to decide soon! Hmmm.

Last thing: Cali76 into the Phat Phuk B is the tone I hear in my head for a "dry" funky bass, a la George Porter Jr. Except I don't sound anything like him, of course.

PS: Apologies for the screenshot, Pixel upload issues.

Great board; no need for apologies!
