I know the board isn’t the focal point here, but I love what this setup did tonight for my beach gig!
New pic after some rearranging. I thought I had nailed it, until there wasn’t room for a cable to go from the Space Verb out to the amp.Finit for now. Added the Frederic Effects Bug Crusher, which is insanely good.

You got any recording? Would love to hear how a sousaphone sounds through an octaverAs a sousaphone player I've been reading along in the Effects forum for some time to learn about all the different effects and to figure out what could work for the sousaphone. At the moment I've crammed this set-up on a Pedaltrain Metro 24, powered by a Cioks DC7. Definately not as compact as some other boards in this thread, but I still thought it might be nice to share
Routing:
Eventide Mixing Link - to boost the microphone (Sennheiser e604) signal and to give the sound engineer a DI signal at the end of the chain
Mooer Noise Killer - always on, to eliminate the worst sound bleed on stage and some heavy resonating frequencies of my instrument. Some of my presets on the C4 are a bit sensitive to extra noise..
EHX Freeze - for the drones. I've put it in front of the chain so that I can still alter the drone
Cog T-16 - love this octave. Also tracks well, I really had issues with some other pedals (Boss OC3) in that regard
Boss PS-6 - mainly used as an octave. I find the sound to be really clean on horns, it works like a charm when I just want to add a bit of low without going for a different sound. The superbend feature is also a nice addition to make some drops or to play around with on drones.
Source Audio C4 - I've I could only use one pedal it would be this one. Octaves, filters, distortions and it tracks really good as well. I control the presets with the DMC Micro, which also has the AMT expression connected to it.
Source Audio Aftershock - Get some extra dirt sometimes. I don't use it a lot though, but it's nice that it covers the range from light overdrive to heavy fuzz.
EHX Bass Clone - might not be the ultimate chorus pedal, but it does the trick for me. Also nice to mess around with when using the Freeze for drones.
Darkglass Hyper Luminal - always on. I don't use it to really alter the sound, it mainly eliminates the biggest peaks from the filters on the C4. Also the Cog T-16 can really boost the volume which can be fun, but I'd also like to stay friends with our sound tech..

I still had a clip of some of my C4 presets, I've attached it to this post. I also used the first few of those presets in this performance:You got any recording? Would love to hear how a sousaphone sounds through an octaver![]()
Thank you! It was my #1 for years. It was supplanted by my 4003 for a while. It’s now reclaimed its rightful position.
It’s a USA Standard. I cracked the headstock on the factory neck. Got the Warmoth neck, changed to Lindy Fralins with a 10% overwind and La Bella Gold Flat strings.
The Precision wasn’t too shabby last night, either!
Hooked everything up, and the Bug Crusher has pushed the Fuzzolo off the board. The Bug Crusher does a fairly convincing fuzz, besides tightening everything up in the coolest way, and adding the Fuzzolo is too much - it obscures the Crusher effect. The Little Brute Drive and the SpectraComp sound great following the Crusher.New pic after some rearranging. Btw, I see you're from Zürich. We're playing at Waldstock festival in Steinhausen this year![]()
I have chased "that sound" since I started playing in 1986.
Thousands and thousands of dollars later, two marriages, countless pedals, amps, and cabinets and here is where I am at. I am happy. Honestly, and I know I am going to get flamed for this, I think this is it. I have played this set-up for the past three years.
Playing through an ESP-LTD B5E equipped with passive Bartolini pickups (preamp removed), with this pedal board, plugged direct into the return effects loop of a Bugera Veyron M BV1001M (yes flame away again), through two Mesa/Boogie Subway 112's (magic) has gotten me to that sound I always had in my mind.View attachment 5101597
