Small update...

As it turns out, this band doesn't need anywhere near the hate that my Blower Box provides, so off it comes, but we do have a song that needs some simulated strings (think cello) and since I don't have Boss Slow Gear money...:jawdrop: enter the Mooer Slow Engine combine that with some really quiet octave up from the HXS, and some tasteful reverb it's close to what I'm shooting for, it's not quite a perfect match, but it's good enough for my needs.

The Kliq tuner is just a place holder for my inbound Polytune Noir Mini (gotta stick with the black/red theme), but I gotta be honest...for what it is, that Kliq tuner is great! I got it from a friend (she meant well) and I hadn't used it until now, it tunes my 4 AND 5 strings every bit as fast as my Pitchblack and Polytune pedals, and it seems just as accurate. Would I gig with it??? Maybe? It seems tough enough, but I have no need to, so it'll probably sit on my desk as a "home tuner" when needed.

My stickers idea for the preset up/down seemed like a solid idea...until the buttons spin. :roflmao:  :banghead: :meh:

Well I put this little number together because, at my last gig when I brought my big board out, the sound dude looked at me as though I was from another planet. He couldn't believe I was a bass player and not a guitarist. :) He used monitors (no IEM's) and did a great job with the mix -- keeping the overall volume down. However, I could not hear myself well at all. So over the course of time, he went from using an XLR-out-of-my-D800+ amp, to using just one cab (not two), to bypassing the amp and plugging me into a DI box to try and help me hear myself. Through each scenario change, he said I sounded great in the audience. That's all fine and good -- too bad I couldn't hear myself. :meh: I shoulda just started cranking the volume at the beginning and let the chips fall where they may. Oh well.

But I digress.

The setup above at rehearsal Sunday sounded great (going into a ShuttleMax 9.2). I have it in the order I do to cut down on noise (way to noisy in other configurations). I've also got a Broughton BBA & a CIOKs5 underneath the board. YMMV.

I do like this Origin combo. The More is used for a boost when needed although I could keep it on always. I use the DCX switched to EQ (no OD). I wonder what 2-DCX boxes would sound like?! (one EQ & one OD)

Bigger backpack?

I like simple and easy to carry. I put my board, cables, strap, backups of cables, an extra DI, iPad, you name it in the backpack. that way I just grab my bass case and I I have a free hand and everything is there in 1 trip.

do you prefer running the DCX into the cali instead of the other way around? ive just always done tuner -> comp -> any effects -> preamp/di

Yeah I generally do tuner > comp > whatever > amp.

I actually had the Cali > More > DCX at home before rehearsal. It sounded good. Hardly any noise.

Rehearsal was a different story -- had to switch things around (DCX > More > Cali). Much lower noise threshold.

Whatever works for your ears is what counts (and if it also works for whoever is listening: bonus!)

almost seems as they’re both “studio tools in a box” that it makes sense to run them in the opposite order.

I didn’t have any weird noise but from other threads here maybe that is, in fact, the way?

And 2 DCX would be awesome!

Hey man thanks for asking. THe Xvive works fine for when I practice at home but anytime I am playing where there is WIFI it is pretty much useless. There have been shows where I can use it with just some background high-pitched hum. The last couple of shows it has been pretty much worthless as I not only have the high-pitched hum but it interferes with the wireless for my bass which is completely unacceptable.

The primary reason I am wireless is because I am prone to tripping over or getting tangled up in cables - not because I am playing massive stages in arenas. I would strongly recommend against the Xvive. Save your money for a system that is not 2.4GHz.

Thank you so much for this, I have wireless for bass from Xvive and it0s the same as you described you system.. thanks!

Golly I love a Nano+. I'm on a Metro16 these days and wish Pedaltrain would just release a Nano22 or 24. I've heard Rockboard has something in this size but I can't be bothered.

I'm in a similar boat; also using a Metro 16. I've at least managed to put the always-on pedals sideways on the far rail, but I miss the days of having everything all neatly lined up in one row.

It's funny, I'm in the opposite situation. I love my Nano+, but at some point I'll probably have a Metro as well. My next big purchase is going to be an Oracle, and I can't bear to have it sideways. Plus I'd like to be able to put one or two more pedals on the board. This setup is great, but adding my octave, drive, and/or cabsim would be ideal. I have a Classic Jr, but haven't played a gig that needed that many pedals in years.
