Show me your compact pedalboard setup

how do you decide which distortion to use?

Ah, that's the hardest part of it, haha! I get my basic tone with the B7KU. Then I add the others ODs in front of it to give me different flavors and nuances, depending on the mood and the tone I want to achieve (the room I'm playing in a specific moment plays a very important role in this). But I also use the BB Preamp and, in particular, the MXR BD on their own. I find the BD doesn't sound so good through the B7KU (with the distortion channel on, I mean; the EQ section is incredible and I use it all the time). The BB Preamp sounds fantastic through it, but if I want it to sound in a more "classic" fashion it does its best by its own alone. ODs are my favorite effects on bass, and I'm very happy ATM with the possibilities I have with all those pedals in my board.

My board today - I like the red, yellow, white & black theme going on

My board today

Most recent version of this board. The majority of this board has remained unchanged for a long time. Recently redone with EBS flat cables, my micro thump moved to my other board and the cave passive tighter arse HPF added in its place.

The final piece of the puzzle was the Strymon Ojai added under the G50. Needed some extreme tetrissing, including 90° IEC connector, but it is now done. 90° xlr in the DI out is to prevent our stage dancers from jumping on it and snapping it off.

What's under the Spark? What does the Ojai do?

What's under the Spark? What does the Ojai do?
The Ojai is strymons smaller pedal power. It's a great unit that's starting to gain a lot of popularity because it has 5 500mA outs and you can chain them together or chain them with the bigger strymon for bigger boards. And price wise they are surprisingly inexpensive for strymon and a really good deal compared to other 5 out power supplies because all 5 outs are 500 where most competitors will have like one or two high powered outs and the rest are 100 or 150. So in other words if you think you'll ever end up with a couple high power digitial pedals like small multis stymons or my shure glxd wireless for example the Ojai is one to consider.

Here's my gigging pedalboard. A Boss BCB-30 with a BB-1X Bass Driver, an LMB-3 Bass Limiter Expander, and a NS-2 Noise Suppressor. Connected to it is an Alesis Guitarlink Wireless instrument system. Everything is always on during a gig, and I use a Snark tuner for tuning. I love the BB-1X, I can adjust exactly how much grit I want in my sound, and it has no loss of low end. The LMB-3 does the job as a compressor, but I'm thinking of eventually going with the new Boss BC-1X Bass Comp. The Noise Suppressor is really handy. It quickly suppresses any 60 cycle hum from my Jazz Bass, it mutes the system for when I want to shut off the transmitter for the Alesis, which otherwise makes a loud POP when I shut it off. All in all it works well for me, sets up and breaks down in less than a minute, and is sonically versatile enough for the music I play.

Here's current small board (Metro 16). Bass goes straight into the Sadowsky preamp (I sold my MV5, this is the next best thing until I have the pennies for an MV4) and then into the BrightOnion looper. First switch is mute and tuner out, 2nd is on/off for 1st and 2nd loops (Boost and Overdrive), 3rd switch is A/B for the Boost/Overdrive, 4th is for the delay. The compressor is in an insert loop (always on) just before the delay.
