Show me your compact pedalboard setup

YRchetI.jpeg

top jack+power tuners are rare. This one is ok-ish. Slow (every tuner is slow compared to st-300), but usable for quick tune-ups. Not for intonation though.

Updating the board for the next live shows. Board A was great but .. it weights a ton and I need something commuter-friendly.

I'll miss the Light pedal but the new board is lighter. I would need a replacement for the DCX because it's also a brick.

Here's my current rig with a couple revisions since my last post.

PedalBoard2.jpg

Mono into EQ2, using the dual outs of EQ2. The 1st path goes from the EQ2 to the XS-1 then into LA Lady's in-1, the 2nd path goes directly from the EQ2's 2nd out to the LA Lady's in-2. Using both outs of the LA Lady: the 1st path goes from the LA Lady out 1 to the Swello then to the TC Impulse, then on to the Left input of the Zoom MS-70CDR+, the 2nd path goes straight from the LA Lady to the right input MS-70CDR+.

The dual Ampero Switch on the lower right controls two stored presets on the XS-1 (Octave up, and Octave down), I'll use the build-in pedal switch on the XS-1 for detune. NOTE: I had to replace the switches on the Ampero Switch because the XS-1 needs NC (normally-closed) switches. The ones I had on had are the loudest clicking buttons I've ever heard. The 4-button Ampero Control calls presets on the EQ2, LA Lady (six slots + a few CC parameter values) and MS-70CDR+ (via CME USB MIDI). I can enable/disable the XS-1, Swello and Impulse manually.

I'm really enjoying this little world I've created. The EQ2 isn't fun to program, but it's essential. The XS-1 does what it does incredibly well. The LA Lady is shockingly versatile, the Swello is fantastic (I use it to approximate arco). The Zoom is a versatile multi, not super-swanky but respectable for my purposes.

The strobostomp mini has USB-C with the top jacks. a little more dependent on what your power supply offers, but it’s a decent option.

This board runs on power bank + dc4, there’s usb to 2.1mm- cable/power converter that pulls up to 20v/2a instead of 5v/3a from power bank via PD, giving me full 4 660mA ports.
Usb port on DC4 is an input unlike DC7.

I guess I could run some kind of angled usb cable directly from power bank, I’ll think about it. Power bank might limit port throughput if 2 ports are connected simultaneously.

I heard strobostomp is next best tuner after st-300, just a bit slower.

The Para EQ Bass is incredible. I jumped on a an open box at Sweetwater so I got a bit of a discount. Although, I feel It’s worth the scratch if you need parametric. Super flexible and mostly quiet (unless you’re using a lot of boost). I use the small knobs always (hpf, lpf, and the two shelves) and the three band as needed. I owned the original Para EQ Deluxe but sold it to pick up the bass version and feel it’s much easier to dial-in with the frequencies offered.

This board is finally complete? And almost set up nice. Bi amp board.

Simple but with a lot of thought going into it.

Peterson Strobostomp HD - Mojohand Cream Pie - Beta MK1 - Subdecay Noise Theory - Bright Onion Patchbay - Darkglass Element.

This was basically my gigging rig until I got the Anagram, it’s just so blissfully simple, sounds great, easy to dial in, everything stacks. I have an effects loop where I can drop a filter or modulation after the noise theory and any other gain or octave pedals just slot in before the board.

Gigrig Generator into a Cioks 4 gives me the ability to power the board with IEC or Usb C, also I can use the power out of the Peterson to power anything I add in the patchbay.

Board is also tall enough that if I ever wanted to add something, the Element fits underneath.

Very pleased with how this has turned out.

Made me read up on the OceanID. That's a cool Cornish-designed optical. Seems like it starts like an LA-2A with a unique and quality layout. Chef's kiss re: the eyeball artwork btw

BABY BURRITO

Pedaltrain Nano

Valeton GP-05

Baby Burrito Controllers:
MVAVE Chocolate Plus
Sonicake V-Express

My tiny board has only one effect pedal! The Valeton has 100 effect spots for up to 9 effects. I programmed the MVAVE Chocolate Plus to handle bank/individual patch switches, and turn off each type of effect within that chain. The V-express is connected via TRS/mini TRS to the Chocolate for volume control. All powered by a 10000 mA power bank. It can even charge other devices if need be.
