Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Back to Analog front end after my go with an FM3. Had to simplify.

I thought tiny means I row and 1 level only. The MIDI controller and expresiion is optional. Chorus is now an EQ2 which has a tuner and HPF and LPF. Tuner now replaced with with SushiBox DI also optional. PiStomp unfortunately requires it's own power supply but everything else runs on rechargeable battery PS

Tiny is a different thread. This is Compact in my opinion! Looks cool. Been eyeing the pi.

Took the Blueberry off, which allowed me to move from a Nano+ to a Nano. Just didn’t really need it for the stuff I’m doing right now, plus I get enough hair by pushing the gain of the PC-2A into the Super Stack. Switched out the Messenger Jr for the Messenger, nice to have headphones/aux. Worked well at rehearsals the past few nights. A very, very cozy sound, which is my tonal goal.

Planning a return to a hybrid setup again after a few years using various 100% all-in-one setups (only HX Stomp, Helix LT, Helix Floor, and finally a full laptop plugin rig)

I really love compact boards, both for weight, practicality, aesthetics and in general. My core tone is planned to be an MXR Bass Compressor (or possibly an Origin Cali76 Bass Comp) into a Darkglass Vintage Ultra (as my main tone shaper, tube saturation, cab sim and DI), and with an Alpha Omega as my dirty sound (objectively the best bass drive ever). The HX Stomp will then provide whatever else I need for certain parts (chorus, octaver, synth tones, pitch shifting, ambience, etc).

I've got three different boards I'm considering: The Gator Aluminium Small (top), the Nux Bumblebee S (bottom left) or the Rockboard Tres 3.0 (bottom right).

The Bumblebee is a 2-tier board that really appeals to me in terms of footprint and aesthetics, while still keeping every switch very accessible. The wireless (Line6 G30) will have to live underneath the top tier along with a compact power supply, but that should be fine.

The Gator is a really solir board; I've owned one before, but I'm afraid that the footswitches will feel a bit cramped for my clumsy feet (switching effects while singing is not ideal). And the wireless will have to be mounted underneath the board, which I'm not sure is ideal in terms of signal stability...

The Rockboard is undeniably the safest option - Everything comfortably mounted on top of the board, and with decent spacing. But honestly, this is really approaching the limit of what I would consider a comfortably compact board (even though this board is by no means large).

I don't know - I'm just afraid that my obsession for pedalboard tetrisi and keeping the board ultra-compact will bite me in the backside once I start using it. We'll see where I end up. But as long as the actual pedals are decided, replacing the actual board down the line is not the worst thing in the world.

And just to keep the thread on-topic with a proper picture, here's one of my old compact boards. This was a really fun little unit:

Just curious, why?

I have been a long time HX Stomp user (with Cali76 and Capo) and then I moved to just using the Anagram. I am very happy with my tone, but I think I want to go simple with a full analog board of tuner-->Comp-->Overdrive-->Preamp (and adding the HX Stomp if I have to in a different project, but I am not currently in a project that requires me using effects). I haven't done because the Anagram is so convenient (I even mix my in ears with it). But I kind of miss the Capo... And last time I used the HX Stomp+Tone Hammer I got so many compliments on the tone...

Answering your question, I'd go with the Gator. To me it seems the perfect mix of compact and with space for everything. The Nux would be smaller. The Rockboard seems the perfect option, but it may be too big.

Well I'll admit that this is probably partly a case of the grass being greener on the other side.

However, this is my rationale: As much as I love modelers and have no issue with the sound, I find that I almost never tweak or adjust my core sounds. I dial something in at home, and that's where it stays indefinitely. I don't make on-the-fly EQ adjustments to suit the room or stage, I don't adjust my drive level depending on experimentation and finding out what suits the band mix, and so on.

So my thought process is that keeping my core tone (compression -> drive -> preamp -> cab sim) on analog, tactile pedals will allow me and inspire me to keep my settings fresh, whatever the circumstances.

And once I make an adjustment, that's my core tone updated across the board. I don't need to replicate those settings in multiple presets, which is just a real pain.

And with the HX Stomp in the setup, if I want a tone that's completely outside of my core tone, I still have the option of turning off all my external pedals and have a tone that's 100% modeler.
