Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Does this qualify as compact? My DIY Cajun smooth and creamy vintage growl Rock/Funk/Blues/Zydicajun pedal board and pedal chain.

"Does this qualify as compact?"

People keep asking that question. I guess “compact” should be defined as used within this thread.

If you look at the first post in this thread (https://www.talkbass.com/threads/show-me-your-compact-pedalboard-setup.891222/), the original poster, @garmentoeros states the following in the beginning of the first sentence:

“Like the title suggests, I want to see pictures of small tight boards.”

Ok, he wants to see “small, tight boards,” but what constitutes small? It appears we’re no closer to an answer than when we started. But wait, there’s more. Here’s the second sentence:

“I own a pedaltrain junior and find it large to move around…”

(Of course he meant to type, “too large to move around,” but I digress. 😊)

If we take that at face value, he wants to see pictures of boards smaller than a Pedaltrain Junior and we can add--with the pedals on the board configured in a tightly organized fashion.

Well, we can easily solve the first half of that want.

He wrote that post on June 15, 2012. At that time, Pedaltrain called the board “Pedaltrain Junior.” Of course, now it’s called “Pedaltrain Classic JR” and that board has a 1-inch difference in width from the original version. So, we’ll go with the original model’s dimensions:

17” Wide x 12.5” Deep

He wants to see boards smaller than 17 inches wide and 12.5 inches deep. That seems clear to me.

Fine and dandy. Now what about the second adjective of the ask (“tight”)? I’m going to leave that as an exercise for those who are adept at organization. I would assume some attention should be focused on the usability, ergonomics, and efficiency of control systems of each pedal within the arrangement.

So, there you are. If you’re board is larger than 17 inches wide and/or 12.5 inches deep, it’s too BIG—at least to satisfy the original poster’s request. But, like language itself, messages within message threads have been dynamic from the very beginning and as Benjamin Franklin wrote in 1789, “In this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

It’s called a PRE- it’s an always-on version of their EP-5 preamp. It’s been discontinued for awhile, but they pop up on Reverb every so often.
I use it as a mid-thickening overdrive in one of the parallel loops.
Sweet. I am always interested in 1590A sized pedals. I did eventually find a couple on reverb after I posted, and a couple of reviews of the PRE also. Thanks!

Current board - punk/new wave band. Mostly picked with Precision, Markbass LM IV, BF ST. Just a touch of OD from the American Sound and the EQ for switching between pick/finger style songs. The Cali evens out the pick attack and adds a bit of "pop"

Cool, the amercian sound is really underrated as a tone shaper/low gain pedal!

Gigged my tiny board on thursday for the first time. might add a tuner for convenience (the tuner in the zoom is good but I am used to just tapping a tuner to switch it on... getting older means getting less flexible, I guess)

As I always say this is my “otherwise compact” board (which is pretty manageable if it weren’t for the Surfybear spring reverb).

The latest version has me completely wrapped in a blue surfy ambience as I have been busy clocking more hours in that genre as of late. My dirt needs are covered by the overdrive channel on my Super Bassman amp 🤘

I use the Messenger to set "my" sound and to adjust for the specific bass and amp I'm using, and I use the Empress to adjust for room issues. The Messenger also has the HPF. Magic sauce. I suppose there's some overlap between them as well.

I also ended up ordering a Cioks Sol power supply to power this board. It should be here tomorrow. That will let me increase the voltage to the Messenger and Cali for optimum performance.
Cioks is the way to go!! They also have a doubler plug so if you have 2 plugs available set to 12v, it'll deliver 24v to that messenger Jr!!

I love sound bathing myself. WOULD.

Just can’t seem to get settled lately.... :rollno:

I’m not even sure I made it 2 weeks with the PT Classic JR…The button crowding was real…fine at home, playing live? Not so much…It doesn’t help I’m less than graceful.

So, back to the Rockboard Duo 2.1....again.

I added a new Pedalnetics Helauxy Duo Mini Pro, why have I never got one of these?? It’s SO much better than having a pedal next to the HXS, now the MidiBaby 3 fits better.

I don't really miss anything, but I guess if I need a heavy hitter for a show, I'll just bring the Helix LT. 👍

Figured I might as well embrace the Red/Black theme too.

I didn't want to cram the Slow Engine on top, so I found a way to just barely tuck it underneath. It lives in the effects loop, so having to turn it on/off isn't an issue.

Also, the X8 power brick lines up just about perfect with the hole on the side of the board...So the Cioks DC7 stays in it's box for some future power hungry project.

Oh look, pretty lights...

Another tweak to my Nano. Couldn't get on with the Bananana Matryoshka so I returned it. Grabbed a Donner Stylish fuzz to use for synth like tones with the VBO and Dynamic Wah. The stylish fuzz isn't too gnarly but works well in the application I want it for. Black RAT goes where my Mooer Pure Boost was but can switch it back in if needed.
