Actually only 3 of the 24 basses in this photo are mine.

I own 4 Spectors, have one I just purchased (USA NS-2) on the way and another on order.

Then I have a Spector electric guitar and a Breedlove acoustic/electric.

My bass/room is actually I had a room that doubles as my bass room and office.

I design and then built (with a friend who converted his two car garage into a killer wood shop) a custom desk which takes up half of one wall and 80% of another. With a custom set of matching bookcases recessed into the area that had been a closet. I removed the doors and opened the space up.

8ft on one side and 14ft on the other, it is made of solid Walnut and has a 1" thick black granite top.

I had special drawers made throughout the desk so I can slide out tools and various different pieces of equipment.

There is a guitar tech area where I can do everything from truss rod adjustment/replacement (had to do that on a 25 year-old bass recently) to pup changes, string changes... you name it.

I've added a new i7 six-core workstation, moved the Genz-Benz head to work as my pre-amp for recording into Soundforge and Vegas.

And I can plug my Aguilar rig into my Berhinger input box as well. I only need to leave for food and the bathroom. LOL. I might be able to fit a small fridge in there. Then I'd be set.

Word. Not for nothing, but the ONE condition I had when buying my house is that I have a room dedicated to my gear, and it's off limits to "re-purposing". Not as big a drama as that sounds mind you as my Wife is the understanding and encouraging type, but there'd been a few comments here and there over the past 11 years, and I shoot them down every time. She has the other 7 rooms, and main hall to do with as she pleases (2 of them are my kids bedrooms, hahaha) but this one is MINE. Sorry so dark, I'll try to stitch a new panoramic tomorrow during the day.

Work on the basement will start tomorrow. There is a seismic upgrade in the works, but after that is done, a little over 1/4 of the basement will become a music room. It's about 11 feet wide by about 20 feet long, so there should be enough room. No power struggle involved. My wife is actually encouraging it. Maybe she's tired of me going other places all the time and wants me around. If that's a power struggle, I'll take it!
