Show off your bass room

Just completed a remodel. All the cases are stored overhead now. Works quite well and makes the room look less like a guitar case storage room.

Whether the cases are full or not (I assume they are), that looks like a great place to kill hours and days and weeks.... If I was left handed!

My son is right handed so he gets frustrated with all the leftys in the house. Of course I bought him drums so we can jam and he's taking to them like wildfire! Fun stuff.

I think I can just about guarantee I've got the smallest music room of ANYONE here! My wife graciously allowed me this 5' X 6' area in the corner. At one time I had the bass cases and the amps simply stacked up there. Over the last weekend, I made up some unique hangers (stole the idea from a commercial posting) and hung them on the walls, thus freeing up space. Talk about making lemonade!

I absolutely love the Fender and Peavey signs and Wood Hangers! Especially the Peavey. I hay have to steal your idea.

Please do use the idea! I can't tell you how much fun it was to make those signs. I'd never used a woodburner before in my life!

As for the bass guitar hangers, they were pretty easy. After seeing a commercial site selling something like them for $200.00 each, I figured I could probably build one for less. I went to the local big box lumberyard, and bought their most modest hardwood veneer (cabinet grade) plywood in a 4X8 sheet (around $45-50.00). I then found online a good pic of both a Fender and a Peavey bass guitar, and used their general shapes to make each hanger. I did fudge a little on the tuners, since cutting them realistically would have made them very weak. I drew the bass guitar shapes one on top of the other, one in reverse, which allowed me to get two of them and still have some left over plywood for another project!

I used some of the scrap wood to make the signs. A little stain and matte polyurethane and it's ready for the actual hangers, spaced to allow each to hang without knocking into each other.

Not a bad weekend project, and I didn't spend anywhere close to $200.00 for BOTH of these, and the signs (and woodburner!) combined!

This is after installing a drain tile system, and insulating with mineral wool. I've since bought a huge area rug, bound with padding. Next will be to make up some picture frames out of short pile carpet, and 14# 1" foam.

Just moved into our new house, and finally have a whole room available (as opposed to either storing everything in the living room or putting it in a little den like my last apartment). It's a work in progress, but overall I'm loving the setup so far. The other side of the room is still boxes, but eventually will have a nice desk and shelf and be my home office/studio. Should be a blast!
