I got kicked out of the basement by my freeloading 19 year old, so my "studio" is now my office. It is a mess currently, but you get the idea.....

I take it you're going to the Netherlands, UK or coming up to Montreal to see Marillion? Lucky you! As for the RP1000, yeah I steal a lot from Pete Trewavas. He also used a MOOG Minitaur with pedals and an Ibanez SR1000, while touring with Transatlantic. I'm currently learning all of Transatalntics' material. It's taking my playing to a whole new level. Pete is a truly amazing player/writer/performer/guy.

Hey Neal

Just curious - since you are pretty heavily into prog and "CanadaNeal"- were you into the Canadian band FM? Or maybe they were a little outside of your era? Forgive me, I have no idea of your age only your musical leanings.

Montreal yes. I've seen Transatlantic and Marillion a few times. When I saw Transatlantic last time Pete's tech forgot to plug in his bass! I felt so bad. He kept fiddling with amp and his cables and the controls on his bass and I could see the cable from the wireless just dangling there! They ended up restarting the show.I've wanted to try out a Rp1000 but I know I would only use a few settings. How is the tuner when using a bass?

Yeah, I saw FM at Ontario Place around '77-'78, or so. I think they played with Nash the Slash on electric mandolin, or something. 'Phasors on Stun' is an amazing track of theirs. I'm 52, btw.

LOL, on Pete 'un-plugged'! I'd love to trek to Montreal for the show (unfortunately, I've never seen Marillion), but out car is getting too old for those kind of longer trips. The RP works great for me. The tuner picks up my 4 and 5 strings no problem.

Thanks for the compliments Brent!

I don't play the Wal enough, but it gets action...all of them do but the black 4001, the GL Jazz Bass and the Ibanez 5'er have been getting the bulk of the time recently.

Hey Neal

I never got to see FM "live". As I recall, they were managed by Rush's management team. When ""Happy the Man" broke up and our keyboardist decided to join Camel in the UK - I got a call from FM's management. This was probably early 1979. They had plans to do an extensive tour and they wanted me to be the bass player. As you may know - on the records the keyboardist also played bass and they were having some trouble playing all the parts "live". We talked a few times - but I don't know or remember what actually happened in the end. Either they found someone local or decided to cancel the plans - not sure which way it went. I liked that band though and i was really looking forward to learning the material at the time....

They actually had a few big tunes. Phasers on Stun was huge then they had a really big (more poppy) album in the mid 80's.

Nash the Slash was going to produce one of my first bands. Jeff was a good guy (RIP), but i can see why he wore the mask!;)

Hey Baird

I remember they sent me I think a couple of vinyl records back then, but I looked around last night and I don't think I have them. I should dial up Itunes and get ahold of some of their material. If I was just going to grab like a handful of the best songs, which would you recommend?

Phasors on Stun for sure. Sounds great today except the laser effects are a bit much. Also, the newer ones (their biggest hits from Con-Test) like Just Like You, All of the Dreams and Why Don't you Take it. Kinda bubblegum-y but catchy tunes.

Thanks for bringing them up, I haven't listened to these guys in at least 15 years!
