I notice nobody (as far as I can tell) has a neck thru F bass.......there a particular reason for this?

There was a time when neck thru was almost universally considered "better". Then people realized that they were just different... and that bolt-ons have sonic advantages, too.

from my site- here now. This is a fretless 5- George used to build them once- one of the reasons they are not so common anymore is tha they arent bvery cost effective, i guess. They would cost more to make, the way the market is today , everyones gearing towards less expensive gear. Look at the Skylines and now even Elrick.

hey, that's the bnf-5 that i was going to buy from mr. dveeus1 down in texas. his cousin is stationed here at bangor sub base in WA. i wasn't able to get it because i had some prollems with a rental property down in GA that i own...darn kids tore down my privacy fence and that diverted my funds....i regret not being able to pick that one up (and a steal for the 2 grand he was asking for it---sheesh)...looked really sweet.

cuz I didnt even get it for $2000. And you can't touch for $2000 what Dveuus is getting in a trade for that F bass.

The reason why you dont see neck through F basses is:

George stopped building them I believe in '94. Prior to that all fretless F's were neck thru. I have owned two of them.

Also, a year ago I asked George to build me another neck thru BNF5 Multi lam neck flamed wood like my last one. I dont remember the actual build time but, It was closer to a year than 6 months. And, the cost was over USD 7 000.

The bass on Adrian's site is killer. It is a one off custom. with a Gaboon board which was refinished 2 months ago. He is not lying by sayingit is a steal at the price he is asking. I hated to let it go. But, it is funding a new project. However get's it will be a lucky SOB if I don't buy it back first
