I want the Nordstrand BigRig (my favorite pickup) somewhere near the P position, maybe a little closer to the neck. I just use the neck position of my Ristola 6er now and love it .

I currently have my Big Rig in the P position of a passive Fender-style fiver... neck J pickup location is probably more accurate. I first had it wired in series which made it mid-focused. It's now wired in parallel for a more balanced tone, but output is significantly lower than my other basses -- and I'm mainly referring to my other passive basses, one having the NP5V (vintage alnico P pickup) and the other with Big Splits. In series mode, the Big Rig was comparable in output to those.
I'm thinking Big Rig in series might be the bomb on a fretless, but I don't own one... gotta have speed bumps on my necks.

This is on the way! Ash body, wenge neck and board, Seymour Duncan MM pickup. Wenge pickup cover. 32” scale E-C! Very excited. Also curious to try all kinds of different strings with it.

The new semi hollow design is up next...two of them. A good friend in NYC is getting the first...a 4 string fretless I believe. I've seen progress photos and it's gorgeous! After that will be my new 6 string to replace the fully acoustic prototype 6 string that didn't work out in the end. I'm super excited about this next one! It'll have a center block, it'll be probably 1" less deep, and it'll have a single magnetic nordstrand pickup.
This is my second Elfin... I wanted one with passive electronics that I could keep strung with flats.. As you can see this has an Aguilar P/J set, which can give you the classic P-bass tone, but on a 7.5Lb bass!
My buddy just picked up his semi hollow bass today from Martin. He's blown away by it. I get to check it out on Sunday. My 6 string semi hollow is up next!
