I have a BigRig in basically the same spot as this MK. I almost always solo that pickup now. It's probably my favorite pickup ever. I didn't personally like it as a bridge pickup, but as a neck pickup it's absolutely brilliant.

If you've ever considered a semi hollow/hollow design....get one from Martin. No question. Have never played anything like it. I'm completely floored.

I'm kind of shocked that there's no piezos and it sounds like this. It's a game changer bass for sure. I *love* the piezo on my chambered fretless, but I've been worried about clackiness (quackiness?) on a fretted. This bass has the warm definition of a p-bass plus that airy high-end. Man.
Agreed 100%. If I turn the passive tone up a bit I forget that there aren't piezo's. It sounds like they're there. Turn the tone down and I get a super warm sound. A game changer indeed. One of the best bass designs I've ever experienced. For me, it is the best.
Martin insisted on reusing the old neck, and I wanted a rosewood board for the new bass, but it's exactly the ebony board that is giving the bass the clarity you hear. Lesson learned. When you work with someone as great as Martin, you have to put your full trust in them. He totally got what I wanted and knew how to get it.
