You're referring to the variable width of the growth rings (spring/fall grain) or suggesting there's some kind of flaw? I've seen wood look like this on some very high end and very nice sounding handmade acoustic guitars.

It looks like it's going to be a very nice bass, like all of Mr. Keith's work.

I realized after I filmed the video that my hair is thinning more than I had thought…so I found a way to cover it up with video effects…bahahahahahahaha. Shaved head to come!

I’ve been using Labella Low Tension Flats for a long time. They unfortunately don’t make a high C, so I use their high C from their regular flats set. It’s not a perfect blend, with the C being a bit brighter, but I have yet to find something that sounds as good. I really wish Labella would just make a full six string set! The LTFs are my favorite strings for sure.

I’m excited to share some progress pics from Martin! He said it’s headed to the finisher in the next week or so. A recap on general specs;

• Headless 6 string, 34.5" scale, 19 mm spacing
• Swamp ash body, buckeye burl top, black accent veneer, with a TBD transparent white finish on the top and grain filling on the ash (hence headed to the finisher)
• Maple neck with wenge center stripe
• Wenge fretboard with some neat fretboard inlays
• Two Aguilar Super Doubles in a wooden ramp with exposed poles, electronics still being sorted out
