I have some odds and ends around. I have a card from Patti Smith's mother somewhere, and a Christmas card from Moe Tucker. A copy of Lester Bangs's "Let It Blurt" single signed by Robert Quine. A Dictators single signed by the band at a poorly promoted (and therefore poorly attended) club show in New London, CT. If it doesn't have to be something tangible, I have email from David Thomas explaining a usually misheard lyric from "Sonic Reducer" and his original reason for it. Some CDs in limited release packaging, like Velvet Underground MCMXCIII in a puffy digipack with a bunch of removable bananas on it, and Reed and Cale's Songs for Drella in a black velvet covered digipack. Ramones Leave Home LP with "Carbona Not Glue" on it. Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt's Oblique Strategies cards. Stuff like that.

Please post a pic or 2. Honestly, almost everything you said made no sense to me. I got Velvet Underground, Ramones, and I know Brian Eno is a person. That’s it.

Eric Wilson is the inspiration that got me into bass back in 1996 when I first heard of Sublime (I was about 12 years old). I got deep into their catalog for a good six years after that, constantly trying to get his bass lines down. I haven’t listened to them in over a decade now. Anyway, I see teens walking around with Sublime shirts on all the time, and I hope that their music is alive and well.

He is a very nice young man (young compared to me) polite and easy going the 5 minutes I got to meet him. He and Aliyha came to pick uo my neighbor. I put him in the Dave Pegg, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire catagory where no one will get their bass lines down. They are that musically talented.
They are touring right under Sublime with Rome. What I have been told they are doing well.
You have just gotten my whole wealth of knowledge on Sublime.

Sublime is one of the sad stories of music that not a lot of people know. Definitely a great band, although could be immensely unpolished, with a great bassist.

Great stuff! I got a Christmas card from Moe after playing in her band for five shows scattered across a couple months in 1987. Unfortunately, I lost it. Wish I had some pictures from the shows.
I think I have the Leave Home record with Carbona on it.

Moe actually contacted me online once after liking something I posted somewhere about Sterling Morrison shortly after he passed. Not long after, she was planning a tour through the northeast, and I did what I could to point her to clubs and music stores along the way. I got to do a short interview with her after the person who was supposed to do the interview didn't show up. Coolest rock and roll grandma ever.

I am a huge Dick Dale fan. You are my hero Bassdude. The purveyer of the upsidedown Stratocaster. His sound and tone were unmatched. Pipeline was one of my favorites! The sad thing is he passed on my Birthday. But if you like Surf Music he is the Godfather.

You are absolutely correct. The story has all of the elements of a traditional Rock and Roll story to it. After I was introduced to the band I did some research. Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll, overdose, underdose, friends, friends not being friends, law suites etc etc etc. As someone said earlier there are kids wearing Sublime t-shirts and IMHO they don't have a clue.
