I don't mind at all

I really love this bass. I don't want to be politically incorrect and say I like it more than my Solid 4 ... but ....

Check with Rob on his thoughts on pickup location. It was his (great) suggestion to put it in the neck position, but he may have played around with it in his shop, placing it in different locations to see how it changed the overall tone.

Holy Mary Mother of God! (and I'm not even Catholic!) JxBass's MB-2 has to be one of the nicest looking basses I have ever seen in my life! (see post #87 in this thread for a nice pic of it). Gorgeous top. And I love that it has the piezo as well as the magnetic pickup. This has initiated a "Code Blue" gas attack.

I'm sitting in Dulles airport waiting to fly back home so I'm too tired to be impatient.

Luckily (?!?) work is insane at the moment so it keeps my mind off of it. I also have an XITS X10 guitar amp that is supposed to show up in the next week or two, and am still waiting for my RH450 to get back to me. That helps divide my impatience as well

Thanks for the kind words. The top is standard maple, but it looks really nice against the cocobolo. It's a passive bass all the way, just mag (Solid 4) pickup and no piezo.

I have a Deep 4 on order with the same features, different woods.

Actually both amp and bass around the same time - January. I did switch from an MB-2 to Deep 5 early on though.

I think I switched to the Deep 5 in Feb, but for build time it depends on what Rob has already made up wrt bodies and necks. In my case I don't think he had any 5-string necks so he had to do a run. I doubt that there is a hard/fast timeline for production. I'll find out when I pick mine up and order my fretted Mouse

I was caught a little short myself - Rob was more than happy to put my Mb2 aside and work on something else whilst I got the funds together.

Oh, okay, no piezo. I sure do like the wood cover on the pickup and how it contrasts so beautifully with the maple body top. Very nice!!

Don't know - probably tomorrow or Friday, just waiting on the email. Have gigs on Saturday so would be fun to take a new bass. Pics when she shows up...

Then just have to figure out if I pick out a maple top for a fretted mouse at the same time

Yes, the matching fingerboard, bridge, and pickup cover against the maple is a beautiful look, IMO. I have the same design with different woods on my Deep 4. I'll post pics to the thread when it arrives.

Being able to put my personal stamp on these great instruments makes them extra special. As a result I'm parting ways with my Solid 4 - in the Basses For Sale thread:

What's the big deal about these guys, anyway? They're just piezzo pickup bridges with hollow bodies! There's no possible way these can stand on their own!
