Lots of basses like that going up recently - like my Deep 4 which was the first one and later tweaked a bit.

No regrets here. I have been using my new D4 quite a bit and Rob really did a great job on it. To say he nailed the neck for me would be an understatement.

FenderP sold me his 10-year old fretless Deep 4. I've been playing it for a week and it has wonderful tone. Hard to tell by my years that it's not an upright. I strung it with new Status Graphite Vintage Black Nylon strings (45-65-85-105). The cab is an LDS 12/6 "nEarful" design. It sounds most like an upright with the EA Micro. I've also used a Genz Benz Streamliner 900, which adds tube warmth and sustain -- it worked well at a duo gig Friday playing against a Gibson hollow body electric guitar. The form factor of the Deep 4 is super playable and the build quality excellent. This is my first experience with RA and it's +100.

All gorgeous basses on this page. I love the continuity of the grain of the top and the grain of the fingerboard on nostatic's MB-2. This one should be arriving in the next two weeks:

That's interesting. Always liked those strings on a Status Electro (somewhat akin to an MB-2) but would never have thought to try them on the RA (Deep 5 in my case) for two reasons. (1) Not sure the length would be enough, (2) I thought the tension would be lighter, meaning I'd need to muck about with the action. That, and the booklet that came with my RA suggests it's specifically set up for LaBellas.

So, did you have any problems with the new strings ?

And how would you contrast the Status strings with the ones they replaced ?

The Status strings work great. The old strings were dead, plus they were the BEAD strings used as EADG. FenderP had this neck reinforced for the larger strings, but they didn't work for me. I prefer more uniformity of string sizes from bass to bass. These match the Status ground wounds on my Fender jazz. I also prefer the lower tension of the Status tape wounds.

That is a beautiful bass you have there, and I bet that rig sounds fantastic with that bass!

Some day.
Some day, the right Mouse or Deep 4, fretless, with f-hole, will come along, and I'll have one of these.
I've played several I like, but I've never had funds, the right one, and timing align...yet.
