I was browsing earlier in the thread and came across these two on the same page.

Aren't RA's just awesome ? :hyper:

Yessir; I double as well.
I've messed with a couple different Mouses (Mice?), but only at home.
I have no real feel for how they'd sit in a dense R&B mix out in ClubLand.

This does nothing to dispel me wanting one.

I can tell you a Deep 4 sits fine in the mix of a big band. I use mine all the time.

Deep 5 in da house

I've also played it at Steely Jam gigs (10 piece Steely Dan tribute band)

That bass flat out kills. Every time I play it at a gig I'm dumbfounded at how good it sounds. I don't miss having an upright at all. It ain't the same...but I don't care.

Rob emailed me the other day to see if the MB-2 I just bought is working out for me. I told him I hadn't had a chance to gig it yet but was in love with it nonetheless. It wouldn't have taken Rob a long time to write that email but I was still kind of touched that he cared enough to ask. But yeah, I'm really looking forward to gigging this bass in the next couple of weeks (I might even take it to a restaurant R&B gig next week - as opposed to just the cocktail jazz setting I was intending to mainly use the bass in).

As much as I got compliments on my old Deep 4, people seem to really be digging the new one much more. It's pretty amazing - the guys in the big band I play with have noticed. You can tell how much Rob's craftsmanship and skills as a luthier have improved, too, from my old one (the first one) to now. I showed the new one to Mouradian yesterday and Jon noted the difference (I was there bringing in some other basses for some work).

It's finally here - played it about 3 hrs last night thru the Thunderfunk -> pair TC RS212 :)

I noticed some EQ ideas worked well:
Cut 120Hz (peak) cleaned up the lows nicely (might be due to cabs on floor and not aurelex riser)
Cutting Bass shelf took away some of the natural deep sound of the mouse.

3-6dB Boost 800-1100Hz peak gave a nice little growl, and 3.8kHz peak gave it some "air".
but amps treble shelf cut dulled it too much compared with the Mouse's tone dial.

Made me wonder:
What's the slope/freq of the tone dial on the back of the mouse? Shelf or LPF?
What are the freqs for the RA Deep's T/B dials?
Am I close to finding the bass' sweet spot?

Love to know more about these amazing basses. :)

Just wanted to share some news that Rob will be making a new line of 5 string mice.

Not sure when it will be offically announced, but my "prototype" will be done in the next month or so. I will have it at NAMM most likely if any of ya'll are going.

we wait (im)patiently.

Can we get a local TB'er to bring a camera over to Rob's shop?;)

Delivery is scheduled for Friday - tough not knowing what it will look like until I open the case :bawl: The only pictures I've seen are of unfinished, unassembled pieces of wood. I'll definitely take pics, albeit not of Rob quality, and post along with a description of the features.

No need for anyone to run over to Rob's this week, he's out of country :)

maybe I missed it - will that be strung E-C? I talked with Rob in the past and he wasn't crazy about the idea of a 30" B-string. But he has evolved some of his designs over the years.

Speaking of that, my D4 should be done this month...
