No. He told me awhile back he didn't want to get wacky on woods with that one but at this point maybe he'll change his proverbial tune, since he made a blonde necked one.

I just recorded that tune with my friend's band using the Deep 4. In the studio we wound up using the mag pickup and I played it through my Ampeg B-18. That's a good combination that works well together. Looking forward to hearing the results when they're closer to completion.

EDIT: Here's a not entirely horrible picture of me warming up before recording with the D4. I know it's before because I'm still using the piezo output jack. It's funny how my style of playing changes with each different bass. I definitely play this one more like an upright in my approach.

I just heard of Rob Allen's today. Saw a couple of youtube clips, and now I soooo want one. I've never had a GAS attack this bad before. Unfortunately for me and my wallet, the one I must have is the Deep 5. But I shall have it! Gonna start squirreling money away today for one of these monsters.

Rob Allen is going to be at Jimmy Copplos BASACRE in Los Angeles Feb 18.... F-Bass , Aguilar, Alleva Coppolo and REDDI will be there too.. Anyone in SOCA should check out the show. I am going and I want to see some new Rob Allen basses for sure.. There is info on the Alleva site

Yes, I ordered direct and supplied Peter Hoffman with all dimensions and a paper tracing of the entire instrument. Fits like a glove. BTW, my Deep 4's neck is 34 inches scale length. I don't know if there's anything else unique about its dimensions but Peter has everything.

Looks a lot like the well padded and protected Under Cover case Rob used to ship with the Deep 4 before the hardshell was available.

Glad to see you're enjoying the Deep :)

Nice. I've used Mooradian amp bags for years (they did the first 'Walter Woods' type bag many years ago). Great quality, great company, and a great 'standard bag' if you don't need the protection of the hydrid type bags.

+1 on the Ritter bags. I use one for my Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass. But I wasn't sure if any of their stock cases would fit the Deep 4. And since I live in the sticks, there's no practical way to do test drives. So going the custom route made sense to do the job right the first time. Using the gig bag sheds TONS of weight versus using the hardshell case. This was a good move for me.

I used the Under Cover bag from the Deep for my Solid 4 when I was actively gigging with a cover band. Fit it like a glove. Because Rob's instruments are not 100% Fender sized, going with a generic one IMO isn't the best idea.

No longer an option as far as I know. I believe there's a post in this thread which confirms Rob used a few unreliable case/bag makers over the years. When I got my original D4, Rob didn't have a hardshell option yet. That got sent to me later. The well padded and fitting gig bag was the only option.

This is a totally obscure data point but I put a fresh 9v battery in my Deep 4 and left the amp cable plugged into the bass to see how long it would take before draining the battery. The total (including play time and sitting unplayed) was 24 days or 576 hours. There might have been an additional 4-5 hours of play time before the experiment officially began. So call it 580 hours of life on a single 9v battery. Not sure how that compares to other active basses but it seems OK to me.

I've been wondering about battery life. My MB2 is going on 2 years with the original battery. I doubt I've put even 200 hours on it. Good to know there is another 380 still on tap!

I recall Bass central sells single and double Undercover gig bags that fit the deep.
