I have the Mono double bag. I can fit a solid body and the Deep 5 but it is a tight fit from a depth perspective. Plenty long enough. I think the single bag is deeper.

If you want to go to the source, you can ping Glen Cronkhite ([email protected]). He was Reunion Blues (he does his own thing now. He will build you a custom fit bag. I'm waiting on the Deep 4 to do a tracing so he can (hopefully) build me a double bag that will be like a glove. Problem is the length of the RA and my Fodera is different...

The other bag that works with the deep is the Portabag. I was never crazy about the shoulder straps though. I have to say that I'm not crazy about the Mono double shoulder straps (for a different reason). For a double bag they do not have enough padding. For a single bag they would be fine.

Anxiously waiting for the "it's done" email from Rob. I think I can hear him doing final setup... :D

So... I worked my way through all of these pages (yes, all of them) and pictures of the RA basses... wow, such incredible work. Looking at all of the pictures helped me put together what I wanted. I have exchanged a couple emails with Rob and talked with him on the phone today. I'm about ready to pull the trigger.

I know this is an odd request... but I'm going to throw it out there... Is anyone here aware of any audio/video of an RA that has the high C? Any of you guys have RA Bass w/ a high c and have any audio recorded you could share or steer me towards? I am just curious to hear how the piezo sounds handles the C string. Thanks.

I finally received pics from Rob of my Solid 4 before it left his shop. He apologized for them being not up to par as they were taken with his "little" camera. As always, they're light years better than the mickey mouse pictures I take at home.

most of my recordings with The Black River band are on a E-C Deep 5. Unfortunately I don't hit many high notes.

Let me see if i can record a few tracks.

My Deep 5 has a 34" scale and a Koa neck and an Ebony board. Its easily the brightest (across all 5 strings) of my RA tribe but blends nicely in the mix. No piezo "zing"

In my experience Rob's basses are nicely balanced across strings without any EQ or physical tweeks.

I found the high "c" improved greatly when Labella changed the c from a anemic .28 to a .43 (originally at the request of independent builder and Veillette partner Martin Keith). This is now standard for Labella.

Thanks... this is helpful. Rob told me about the string gauge change... sounds very helpful. Yea, I'd love to hear that bass if you have the ability to steer me to any audio.

Rob recommended the 34" scale to me as well... he said it works better for the 5 str E-C. We talked about using walnut for the neck with the mac ebony fingerboard.

And here she is. All I have to say is, "OMFG." I'll get some sound clips up later, but after a quick listen at the shop I don't know that I really want/need a "traditional" fretless. It flat out kills.
