Show Us Your Rob Allen Basses Part III

I played one when I visited his shop. It sounds totally different. Like an old single coil pickup. The tone was full, bordering on huge, but also electric.

My bad, should have clarified the question. I have a Solid 4, which has a single coil mag pickup (and sounds amazing!). Tone is definitely "electric" but that's its job with the S4. I'm more curious about what the mag pup does in a Deep 4 or 5. Is that what you played in the shop?

A Solid 4 mag pickup in a Deep 4, which Rob custom winds to the Deep, sounds very much like a Solid 4 with a slightly richer tone. Same can be said for an MB-2. I speak from experience, owning a Solid 4, MB-2, and Deep 4, all with Solid 4 mag pickups, no piezo.

Does someone run his RA with an Epifani UL 501 amp ?

I am looking for a new amp who could serve my Deep 5 and also my Sadowsky and Fodera (coming in a couples of months).

Cabs are Baer ML 112 and Markbass 4*10

Thanks !
