Not a RA you see every day

Brent plays for Allen Stone. I met him a couple years back. He's a great player and real nice guy. At the time he was playing a 32 or 33" scale LeFay 6. So it wouldn't surprise me if his RA was medium scale too. Looks nice.

What would you guys think of a dedicated thread for "general questions" about Rob Allen guitars? A place to discuss preferred amps , strings, pedals etc...as well as a place for noobs like myself to see the advise of elders.
If this thread is the place for that then I will ask my questions here.

So am I nuts or does my Mouse really sound better with the on board pre amp all the way up?
I had been setting it to about the half way point and just adding gain on my amp.
Randomly decided to up it all the way and lower my amps gain accordingly .
Can't quite explain it but it just sounds warmer and over all better.

Mooradian makes quality custom bags. They made one for my Deep 4 that looks and works great. Very durable.

Calling is the best thing to do with them. They are a bit 'old school'. Wonderful company, wonderful product. I've been having them make bags for my small amps ever since my first Walter Woods all those years ago.

The bass bags are great, as long as you are OK with a soft bag (i.e., they are not hybrids like the Contego or whatever, just a very good quality padded bag).

now THAT is an interesting idea. The doubleneck RA MB2 works quite well. This one belongs to a talkbass member (i forgot his name for the second time)

I don't understand that build. Am I missing something... two four string fretless necks on a single body? Why?

Exactly. I could understand a fretted and a fretless but not both fretless. I've never been a fan of double necked instruments anyway.

Yes, they have a good rep here in MA. About 90% of upright bags in use are made by them.

I showed my Mouse to a local luthier who was very impressed. He was surprised with the amount of sustain it had for a 1-piece neck/ short scale.

We both wondered how to lessen the sustain...
- foam tends to kill the harmonics a bit much. I want to retain the acoustic 'air' around the note.
- would TI Jazz Flats have less sustain? I have a set in short scale I've been meaning to put on.
- I know using thumb/ palm muting helps but isn't great ergonomics and IMO gets away from the tonal 'sweet spot' of the instrument (DB hook).
- left hand muting is too cumbersome to use constantly.

Any other suggestions to reduce sustain (for a more DB-like envelope)??

I recall they both had different strings, different neck+fingerboards, and differnet brands of piezo pickups.

Better yet, a long scale with traditional tuning and a short scale tuned in 5ths like a cello CGDA. Soloing in the cello range would be killer.

Yup. Try the TI's. I have had a set on mine for years.
