I thought the walnut top on my MB2 was the coolest looking option. Not so sure now. Your top is killer!
That'd be awesome. Any chance of including a FRETTED RA bass in the same review as a comparison?
Is this a Deep 5 Fretted?
It looks like a Mouse to me, the bass on the right is a Deep.
Yeah. You maybe right. It's because it's behind the Deep model than it looks like a Deep . Does anyone know if Rob have made fretted Deep 5 ?
Yes. fretless, 35" scale, strings are balaned. Tad neck heavy due to lack of body weight.
Yes. The imbalance is very slight. Perhaps moving the strap button might help a bit. I think mine was the 3rd or 4th he built.
I was thinking about a high C Deep 5, which I might do some day. My 6 does such an amazing job that I'm 1/2 tempted to sell my 5 string. Too hard for me to let go of such a beautiful bass, though.
I understand that it would be a pain to sale this bass.
Is your 6 is 19mm strings spacing ?
I wonder if Rob could do a 18mm.
iirc, Rob's default bridge spacing on a 5'er is between 18 and 19mm. One other factor are the strings - since they are thicker than typical round wounds the spacing can feel a bit different depending on your technique. Fwiw my 5'string balanced perfectly as does my 4.
The spacing on my MB5 is definitely tighter than my 19mm Fodera. The thick tapes make a difference, but it has tighter spacing for sure. I would guess 17.5-18mm. I should figure out how to measure it one of these days....

Spade, I think I remember that you wanted to order a bass with two kind of body wood, ash for the upper body part and Alder for the lower's one.
Did you do it ?
Yep. I did an ash/alder body. The bass sounds insanely good. There are many differences between my MB2 5 string and 6 string, so it's hard to say how much of a role the ash/alder body played. Another difference was my 5 string had a bolt-on bridge and the 6 string was glued in.
