Show Us Your Rob Allen Basses Part IV

Not true. Rob has modified the profile of every one of my RAs to date. If you buy "off the shelf" at a store, no, but custom orders? You betcha. On my original Deep 4, he reinforced the neck because I used the bottom four strings of the RS885 set. He also did a special bridge to accommodate higher action on my newer Deep 4, so things like this are not unheard of with him. The neck shaping Rob did on my Deep 4 is just amazing.

I didn't know! I only have this information that since Rob only had to know if I wanted 17.5 mm or 16.5 mm a few week before the bass is completed. Therefore I believe that the neck is same if you do 16.5 mm or 17.5 mm.

Sorry for the mislead

Family pics. There's a Deep Mouse hidden in there :-)

I have mailed many times with Rob, but I have never seen him. On Facebook there is picture of his workers. But I'm not sure there is a picture of him. Anyone have a picture of him?

I'm very excited about the fretted custom MB-2! Been looking for a bass like for a long time and then it showed up. I just bought it on the spot! The next month I will have this RA and my Deep 5 which is soon done . Crazy

What a beautiful bass! Congrats - may that beauty give you many years of joy, happiness and good service!

Anyone else get pictures "in progress" from Rob as he was building your bass?

Not sure if he still has time to do it, but when he built my Mouse, nearly fifteen years ago, he sent me in-progress pics. I suppose he took them himself, but whoever did, is quite a good photographer.

If you have them please post them. Here are mine. I picked out the flamed and spalted maple for the top at this shop, I fell in love with it. I also had him dye the rosewood fingerboard ebony black so the figure in the rosewood didn't compete with the highly figured top:

Rob did sent my the top photo but I haven't seen anything else from him. My Deep 5 is delayed and he says it's soon ready. I have asked him about a photo because I very excited but haven't heard from him. He seems to be very busy :)

I guess it is understandable - I know he is a very popular and busy man at this point.

Always a treat when you can manage to get a glimpse of the beauty "in-progress" though. Heightens the anticipation, which doesn't seem possible....
