Show Us Your Rob Allen Basses Part IV

Hi folks - former RA Mouse owner now looking into possibly purchasing longer scale RA lined fretless for reasons outlined in This thread. Since I don't have several $K lying around for test drive purposes, am looking to see if anyone has a longer scale RA lined fretless anywhere close to Louisville that I might be able to play for a few minutes sometime. I really love Rob's basses.

OMG, Rob mailed me this morning to tell me my bass is finished... he already sent some pictures, can't wait for it to arrive! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I carry my Deep in his hard shell.. no gig bag for my RA. I feel more secure.
Hou, are you happy with your fretted MB2 ?
I really start thinking about ordering one.

Yes! Very happy. It's light, good looking and sounds amazing! The string spacing is a bit tighter than I'm used to. My Fodera is 16.5 mm. But a good guitar builder will look at it and see if it can be spaced out. I wrote to Rob about a fretted Deep 5

I ordered early January and the body work was already done then so I guess that it got delayed a bit but no worries, a bass like this is well worth the wait I think.

I lovelovelove the simple and clean-ness of Rob's work!

Cool! I also ordered my Deep 5 in january and waiting for the final pictures. The bass should be ready around May but is a bit delayed! No probs but I can't wait to see and get it

What gigbag you do use with RA? The ones I have a big and heavy for a light RA bass. I'm looking for a light bag to go with RA when I only bring one bass to the gig

When I bought my most recent bass from Rob, a custom Solid 4, I asked for a gig bag instead of the usual hard case. He shipped it in a ProTec. I also have a Mono M80 and although it has more bells, whistles, and pockets, I prefer the simplicity and smaller size of the ProTec. It has rigid walls and enough padding to safely schlep my S4 or MB-2.

Thanks! I borrow a friend Mouse bass and the Protec bag was super nice and light! Is it the guitar version that is used for the small mouse?

Do you think a Deep 5 will fit the normal Protec bag?

I had Mooradian make gig bags for my Deep 4 and Solid 4. Excellent quality.

I bought my MB-2 used and it came with the Protec case. I love it. It has as much protection as the Sadowsky soft case, but more streamlined, has lots of storage and is super light.

Only case I use if I am bringing a single bass. I still love my Levy's dual bass gigbag but it is a bit heavy and only has a single storage pocket with leather straps/buckles which is a bit of a pain. I still prefer the dual gigbag over 2 Hardshell cases any day.
