RAs can be a bit tricky to amplify as they have a lot of lows and also have piezo "clack".

+1...I consistently keep the (on-board) bass cut on my (e~c) D5.

My fav amplification setup to date, is the Berg B|Amp+HG410 (includes a rear facing 10, for 3D sound effect)... The B|Amp has now firmware-morphed to include a really good vlpf, OD, comp, in addition to the vhpf and notch filter. I supplement with only a small Nano board (wireless, chorus, delay, and reverb)...

I have never had a problem using my MB-2 with an SWR Super Redhead., I think the tube preamp makes a significant difference.

I was in the studio today and believe it or not, this was the first chance I had to record the (second) Deep 4 I got from Rob. It sounded great. Amazingly enough I took my '63 B-15N out of mothballs and schlepped it into the studio. I was wrong. The D4 sounds great through it once I dialed it in (mainly lower gain on the piezo and less than 50% volume on the amp). It's not a rig I'll gig often, but happy the combo worked. I used the mag side of the D4 for one tune and it also sounded killer through the B-15N. It's hotter than both of my '78 Ps, though.

Are you kidding? That sounds fantastic! I have four Rob Allens (Mouse Fretless, MB-2 Fretless 4, and fretted Mouse and MB-2 4. They've always worked well for me, but what you're doing is taking it to a whole new level. Thanks for sharing!
