He's right. I got my 5er for $3,300. And that's mates rates.

Unfortunately anything sold in Austr that has been imported from the other side of the world will have shipping costs factored intop the final sell price. This can almost double the comparitive US price. Same thing happens with Eden, GK, Ampeg, the list goes on.....

I spent years trying to justify the expense but I've ALWAYS wanted a Stingray. Eventually my heart won the battle with my wallet.

Why don't you use the SUB as a stepping stone to a full blown 'Ray? RRP is $1,995 for the Active 4 string. They're not as nice but .........

It came with a black cover, but I found a guy who had some NOS 70's white covers. I think it looks much better, which of course makes it play better!

I don't have MM Stingray as I can't afford one at the moment,but I do have a 'clone',if you like, by company called Vintage. It's passive but it feels great to play and sounds quite similar to the Stingray.I play it even more than my Yamaha BB300( the same model that Paul McCartney used on the earliest Wings tours). I have picture of me playing it,but as this is really for real 'Rays',I feel it might not be appropriate enough( though if it's ok,let me know please ),though I would like to. Besides, it's a lefthanded bass and I haven't seen any photos of lefties so far.

As you can see I love a nice piece of ash. I like other finishes too, but for some reason I always end up buying natural finish basses (only my LongHorn and my first bass had a solid finish).

I promise that I'll go with a different finish next time, although I'm thinking about getting a fretless 4-94 to match my fretted...and then it'll have to be natural too

P.S. By the way, my Telecaster () is a natural finish too but at least my acoustic (Epiphone Jeff Baxter) has a brown tint.

On prices around the world ...in canada you can swing an amazing deal and get my stingray (see post above) with piezo, matching headstock, drop d tuner and all that for 800$ canadian used... I am still very pleased with the deal I found on that.. I explained it in a post when I first got it but I will explain again here.. .

Man puts bass for sale on consignment 1350$ canadian.. already a fair price with the options it has.. mike tries to buy at the store.. they are going to add **** loads of tax so I get his number to see if he will lower the price a bit.. he calls the store.. and gets mad cause they want to charge tax on his used bass... he figures they will just embezzle it since its not really in their inventory anyway, its used (I don't know if they actually would or not, but it made hiom angry) he decides to pull the bass out of the store and no longer sell it in their shop... he tells me I can buy it for what he was going to get out of it from the store if I had purchased it at our agreed lowered price of 1200$.. I am like sweet 1000 bux or so and its mine.. I am like how much.. (praying) and he says 800$.. well it was all I could do to not crack a smile and head to the bank machine.. done deal. hooray.

Funny thing is now I can not even find a bare bones stinger for under 1150-1250 used (canadian)

so my bass was purchased about 10 months ago so that would make it about hmmm... 540$ US.. does that sound like a deal?

Oooh I'd love that, I was looking at one today actually, real nice. Unfortunatly they don't make them left handed

I think getting the bass shipped to a fellow trustworthy TB'er who will ship the bass to you afterwards is an option. And it WON'T give you a headache. Buying without playing but.. it's really worth it. Been there done that.. (not with a TB'er but.. anyways.)

Yahoo won't let you post to other sites. At least that was my experience with them.
