I think that top is pretty farkin' beautiful! Great bass.

I'd like to try a mouse ... Rob Allen's basses are so rare that it's hard to find one to try, and then never seem to come up for sale. I do think his designs look best fretless

BTW, the biggest challenge I find in playing the Deep 4 is that it is so responsive that any flaws in technique show up. My biggest problem right now is getting an evenness in plucking with my index and middle finger ... my mid finger wants to catch on the side cuticle of the finger, making a louder sound than the index that plucks on the flat fleshy part. I have to actively work to keep my fingers very flat. This is not nearly as much of a problem on my Fender or Ritter, or even my fretless Dean

That's a bass I'd like to try out. Pat Wilkins does some interesting one offs, generally with top rate kit. How do the chambers affect tone?

My first entry was probably my '78 Rickenbacker 4002, it's the one on the right - the '68 4001 on the left was sold to fund buying the 4002:

Next up is an amazing Marchlewski custom-shape made in 2005. It's got a Spanish Cedar body capped with Buckeye. A Birdseye maple fretboard with Buckeye inlays and Carey Nordstrand's dual-coils through a U-Retro pre-amp.

Then there's my Nordstrand that's currently for sale to pay for the one below (don't like the 2 x Jazz configuration):

Words can't describe how much I admire Rob Allen's designs. My, oh my, those are nice. I'd take one of each, please, but if that's not an option, I would probably be content with a fretted short- or medium scale four string Deep model. Or maybe a fiver with a high C. I can dream, can't I?

That's my incoming R Bass...it'll have a padauk pickguard and padauk dots on the board, and Nordstrand SEs under birdseye maple covers.
I have a Roscoe fretless with a box elder burl top that I can't find a pic of.....

This bass isn't mine and I'm trying really hard to not buy this. The fretboard is beautiful I'm having a custom 7 being built and I can't come up with one good reason to buy this bass from Matt @ FBB right now

I don't need this bass, but man, I sure do like it .... I just can't justify buying it right now .....

That's actually far from the standard Elrick headstock. It's a lot larger because I had it built to house four Hipshot Xtenders:

I use to hate the Elrick headstock myself. After getting my first Elrick though, I also immediately came to love it. The shape looks much better in person, it's small without being tiny, and it weighs nothing.

My Birdsong Cortofusion prototype. CTBass&Birdsong is getting #2, which will be sidejacked and have a different shape control plate made of ebony. The ebony Cortobass that Scott at Birdsong is making right now (sadly, for someone else) is the Cortofusion body shape, but with the traditional cortobass pickup configuration.

I actually think the Elrick e-volution double and single cut shapes are the best out there, bar none. I prefer them even to the Fodera shapes which I consider very fetching. I also think the Elrick headstock looks great, at least 300x better than the Skjold headstock (great basses I'm sure, they just don't comport with my aesthetics!). The Elrick headstock is just kind of like the Fodera headstock, a little exaggerated.
