I finaly post here ...

I don't have any cabs for the moment ...nevermind

OK, here's the picture that I promised two weeks ago... It's a great sounding rig...the 450 head has tone shaping galore...a three band tone section, a 5 band graphic EQ, a bright switch, a lead/bass voicing switch and a distortion circuit. Lots of tones to be had from this mid '70s gem.

The 450 head is rated something like 170 watts into 2 ohms so it puts about a 100 watts or so into the 4 ohm 301 cabinet. It's insanely loud too.

Is 44 old? Hey you youngin's stop nodding your heads...you'll be this old some day...;)

Keeping with the subject of this thread, here's a picture of my first bass and first real amp. Note that the pair of 1x15s on the bottom belonged to my bass teacher at the time but the 2x15 and the Carvin head were mine and both purchased from him. $100 each and I could have bought a 160 watt tube Traynor instead...oops.

Funny that you should mention Lafayette as I remember wanting to buy one of those basses but my parents wouldn't let me. I later craved a Ric 4001 (or even an Electra copy of one) but a friend of my Dad's suggested that I get a Fender...so I found the one local fretted P Bass and my parents and I split the cost.
Unfortunately it was not one of Fender's best efforts but I was naive and really wanted a bass...it and I finally parted ways in the late '80s.
