Show your Ashdown

let me ask you about your VU meter.

I had a MAG 300 2X10 and the VU meter seemed to work fine.
it was very active...

I just got the Touring amp yesterday and noticed a dark spot on the 12 o'clock position of the meter and it barely moves even with all the knobs and the gain cranked

???

Well I can only tell you about the VU meter on my MAG, which is responsive all the way through. I can easily... push it all the way to the peaking, red area.
It only seems a little "timid" and won't jump up with low gain settings but I wouldn't call this anything close to a glitch.
If I were you, I'd bother sending an e-mail directly to the Ashdown boyz. - cheers!

Here is my Ashdown ABM EVO III with my mini 4x8 & 1x15

Are numbers being issued?

Although I love this amp I am thinking of downsizing as I am fed up of the multiple trips to the car.

I am thinking of selling the Amp but have no idea of what I should sell it for:

Here are links to the amp head and cabs:
4x8 bought for £250
1x15 bought for £250
ABM EVO III bought for £500

I bought the speakers for £500 on e-bay in almost perfect condition but I have played with them alot since then and they are a little scuffed. I have also replaced the 15 inch speaker due to a tear in the original so it isn't the blue lined speaker anymore.

Due to wear and tear I am thinking around £700 - £800 what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for any pointers you can give me.

Cheers

Might be adding another 1x15 in the near future. These cabs in particular sound fantastic.

Hey back2thefuture, how do you find the volume and low end on the 610? This is my next step up if i get larger gigs, currently running my ABM500 into 2x210 ABM vertically alligned. The 610 not being ported has put me off, but does it suffer at all wth low end punch level?

Also have you compared the compact 15 with the full 15? Any noticeable differance? Getting a 2x15 set up has also crossed my mind once or twice. I've tried the full size 15 and found it a little woolly and undefined for my liking

The 610 has an insane amount of volume with the ABM500. A lot of it has to do with the fact that the 610 is a 4 ohm cab rather than an 8 ohm cab (like your 2x10 or my other 1x15). Using the ABM500 in a 4 ohm configuration utilizes the amp's full potential.

I will admit that a small amount of low end is missing with the 610 because it isn't ported, but the difference is minimal to me and can be remedied with a little EQ.

Having said that, there is something about my 1x15 that I just love. Maybe it's the ported cab, maybe it's the speaker size. Or both. I am considering stacking another 1x15 on top (for a full stack) and replacing the 6x10 all together. I brought it up in this thread > http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/2x15-6x10-936802/

I have never tried the full 1x15 cab myself so I can't say whether the difference is noticeable or not.

Just got a LB-30 from that MF blowout. Wow, what a beastie! Dirty and loud. Did not need it at all. But of course I love it and want to build a little rig with it.

Cab options:

Two used 110s from a guy who had the discontinued mini rig...

Or new Ashdown VS112...

Opinions from those in the know? For home use, maybe small gigs, and recording. Thanks! SL
