Just got a LB-30 from that MF blowout. Wow, what a beastie! Dirty and loud. Did not need it at all. But of course I love it and want to build a little rig with it.

Cab options:

Two used 110s from a guy who had the discontinued mini rig...

Or new Ashdown VS112...

Opinions from those in the know? For home use, maybe small gigs, and recording. Thanks! SL

I use the VS112 along with my LB30, great to have a mini all valve rig that you can carry both head and cab in 2 hands! Volume wise it can be cranked with some serious dirt. Great for home and studio use but i think you'd struggle with any 1/2 loud drummer or guitarist with 412 without PA support. Getting it elevated or tilted back also helps live as the can is small and low down so all the low end is pointing below your knees. Without any horn or tweeter its natural tone is warm and rounded to my ears but you can still get nasty or more hi-fo with the eq

can i ask a quick question .. as this seems to be the ashdown fan club

whats the difference between the ABM and MAG cabs ... rightly or wrongly according to the product info they seem to have the same drivers in them ?

The ABM cabinets are birch plywood, the MAG cabinets are MDF. Are they both front ported? [410 with horn]

Cleaned and reconfigured the Man Cave yesterday with help from the War Department. Then I cut loose with a raucous hour of practice through the LB-30 and a big heavy Kustom 115. Wow. Never have I heard such bottom. This amp is something else!! I may be spoiled for solid state now.

. Ive owned my EVO500 combo for three years. I absolutely love it. It's my go to recording rig! The DI sounds incredible! I've actually had to sell this a couple of times to make bills, but always seem to manage gettin her back. One of my all time favorite combo amps!

My Ashdown ABM 900 EVO II through GK NEO 412.
I'm thinking of selling my GK NEO 412 and getting a pair of Ashdown 410s so I can put both of my amp outputs to use.
Killer rig either way!

Question related to my abm410H cabs = I have 2 of these cabs. Cab 1 notes on the data plate that it is manufactured by ashdown engineering. There is no country mentioned.
The other notes, built in the uk by ashdown engineering.

Does anyone know what country cab 1 was built in?

I must admit that I am hopeless Ashdown-aholic. I tried to cure myself with a GB Shuttle 6.2 and 2 GB 12" neo cabs but something is missing. Sure, it's loud and articulate, but the heft is missing. I forced myself to get friendly with this new hi-fi rig but it still isn't quite there for me. I got rid of all my 410s, 210s, and 215s years ago for lighter, more compact gear. I have an ABM500 EVOII, ABM C110-300, ABM Mini10T, Mini12T, & Mini15. Even got an RPM-1 JE Preamp in my studio rack. Any combo of my ABM setups is way meatier (to me) than the new GB setup. And these Ashdown mini cabs are not known for their sound quality on any discussion board. Is it me?

V tasty...how much volume can that push out? Do you ever find it lacking in clean and/or dirty headroom?

Man this thing is killer, yea its only 100 watts but those are 100 watts being pushed by JJ KT-88 tubes. I use an Ashdown 4 ohm 4x10(Older ABM 414T) and a jazz bass with Bartolini bridge pickup and Fender custom 60's in the neck and boy, when I crank this baby the tubes produce a raw, punishing, over driven, tubey, pure pure tone. I can get a nice loud clean from it as well.. It cuts through the mix just fine. I play in a doom/stoner band and I have to compete with a LOUD drummer, Mesa Boogie dual caliber tube head and a 1969 Sunn Solarus. I love the sound I get reminds me of the legendary Sleep tone - reminiscent of Green Amp.

Got a question for you Ashdown brothers. How does a pair of ABM 410H work with ABM 900 EVO II amp? I'm into punchy warm round tone. So far my amp works great with GK NEO 412 but I feel like going full Ashdown. I like mids, no booming lows and no hi fi high end.

It should sound fine. Your ABM 900 can drive a 4ohm load on each side- that is two 8ohm cabinets on each side. You could get four ABM 410s and hook up two cabinets to each side. Rock on!
