Just wanted to post a picture of the progress of my new Bass.
Jimmy Wilson of Landing Bass is making it for me.
It's a blonde finish, with red tortoise pickguard. Combination of black and chrome hardware.
Matching Tele style headstock.
It's going to "pop" when it's finished!

Here is my Darkstar bass...I call it The Dark-Marc. I built it around a matched pair of Darkstars that I ordered from Fred Hammon with the help of Tim Cloonan from Callowhill Guitars. It is a Warmoth Korina J body and Warmoth maple/ebony neck. It is my main bass for the last few years. I've played it in a great variety of projects and the amount of different tones I can get is crazy. The Darkstars are so reactive...I can't say enough about them.
This is my first time posting pics so I hope it works out.

Haven't seen a natural P dark-starred, so here you go. Not REALLY a P-bass; MIA J-neck from 2007. Gotoh bridge. Tort guard. Sounds great with the tone rolled slightly off.
Anyone worked a Darkstar in on a bass strung BEAD? I'm thinking of getting an inexpensive Rondo just for BEAD and a DarkStar sounds like a plan.
The LeCompte and the Landing are the coolest I've seen with Darkstars. Although, the Lakland was pretty awesome too.
Here is my Darkstar Dirnt Sig. It sounds great but unfortunately I have realized I am not much of a Pbass guy so I don't imagine it will be around too long. Still badass though.

That landing is beautiful as is the blonde fender. I'm not totally sold on the look of darkstars on all modern instruments, but I think there are few vintage or vintage inspired instruments that don't benefit visually from the addition of a darkstar.
Of course the way the darkstar sounds, it could go on most any bass, visuals be darned!

Carl, the lead luthier at Lakland, built himself a 35" scale bass exactly like that. (He later changed out the pickup to a Basslines MM-style humbucker because the DS didn't fit in well with the band he was in.) That bass is for sale, with both pickups, through a dealer who is also a Lakland employee. (I have no affiliation myself.) I've played it, and it's a great bass. Might be beyond your budget, but I'd encourage other DS fans to take a look.
