Show your Dark Starred Basses

Does anyone know the pickup mounting screws Fred uses? He mentioned to me that they are sheet metal screws. I need to replace 2 screws with longer ones due to a previous mod. Lakland sent me some but they are the standard length which are about 3/8 in length. I think I may need a 1/2 to 5/8 length. I would like to keep the bass looking "original". Fred told me he could send me some longer ones but alas...Thanks in advance for any help.

He got his screws free, no charge...not even being the original DS purchaser.
I made a trip to the post office and paid the shipping myself.
I've yet to hear a word of thanks from him. Guess he felt entitled.
If I'm a little late in shipping or answering emails etc this is part of the reason. I do everything here.
Sorry. I need to vent. It's therapy.

i'm getting [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]tomorrow. Is there some sort of darkstar template that can be purchased for routing purposes? I guess I could make one, but I didn't know if such a thing existed.

you better have good sawdust skills to route a hollowbody well.
i think there are templates out there somewhere.
used to be that user "pathdoc" did nice affordable installs.

nice was a simple pickguard swap as the pup screws to the pickguard.

my dad is far better than me at routing, so I might take it to him. I don't even have the DS's yet, so time isn't a factor. Is there another way? Sanding seems feasible but time consuming.

I've been on the hunt for a t-45 for a drop in install, but the only one i've found local(ish) was $400 bucks, which is a little much, considering the extra $200 for a DS.

I like this one visually. I don't exactly know how it sounds but I can guess.
It's a break from the norm in pickup spacing.
If I were to be really critical looks-wise, I'd like to see more vintage "yellowing" in the headstock.
A very weak criticism, for sure.

I had to write a personal email to get the info on this bass.
It's truly a one-of-a-kind and electronically passive, if I remember correctly, just like Jack Casady's (stolen) brown "Woodstock" Starfire was.
Betcha didn't know that.
