1981 Fender Factory fretless, made out of left over 79 parts in 81. From Texas and I believe some of the finish got gooey and stuck to the case maybe but with the belt wear on the back who knows, it was played hard by someone.

Does the Firmist Gold Metallic really look that yellow or is it the picture? Pretty rare example w/those two colours! The white is a base for the gold which would have looked greenish if shot over blue. FGM is a favorite of mine. Pat Wilkins did my Supersonic in that colour -

Well, it was an MJT reliced Jazz body that started out looking like this:
But I wanted something a little more 'distressed', so created the monster it is now! It's strung with Chrome Flats and with the Dimarzio Will Power pickup selected it does a very good old school 'Gibson' type thump. Selecting the Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups brings it back to a standard, modern type Jazz sound. The tone knob is also a push/pull, series/parallel switch for the Will Power pickup.

But I wanted something a little more 'distressed', so created the monster it is now! It's strung with Chrome Flats and with the Dimarzio Will Power pickup selected it does a very good old school 'Gibson' type thump. cool - the distressing is a bit over-the-top, but there are actual road-warriors throughout this thread that are very similar. I like the mods - bet it sounds great!

But it's certainly 'scratched'(!) my itch for a bass that I can play just about anywhere without the worry that someone might damage it!

Now you just need to relic that neck to match the body!
While I was leveling and recrowning the frets I did accidentally scratch the fingerboard a couple of times -does that count?!
Seriously though, I did consider wearing down parts of the finger board to simulate wear etc, but as that's 'my playing surface' I didn't really fancy doing that. The varnish is vintage tinted so it doesn't look as out of place as say, a new maple Fender neck would, but that's as far I want to go for now.

Finally! A Hofner! Mine is getting mildly distressed as well in it's own poly way.

I was initially bummed out by the ding it received on the face. The very first time it was out of the house, my drummer helped load it to my car but never made sure the latch was secure. The bass tumbled out and landed face first on the ground.
Now it's just all part of the playing history and looks more like it could've been played out around Hamburg or the Cavern Club.
I'd say leave it fretless IMHO. It's always fun to have a fretless around and that is definitely one beautiful example of one.
