Ok - makes sense. Didn't know Allparts sold a replica Ric bridge like that. On closer inspection it is different w/a flat (not curved) lower section. Looks to be more stable that those flimsy original ones that they added the 2 stabilizing screws to on the 4003's. I had an '86 4003 w/the 2 piece pg (tr adjustment at the body end of the neck) & extra bridge screws in Fireglow.

It's curious why someone would relic a clearly rare lefty Ric - you'd think you'd want it to be left as stock as possible.

This is a 1957 Precision Bass. This was my baby from 1967-2007. Every dent, ding, scratch and hole was put in it by me. If you look closely at the thumb rest you can see it was worn halfway off by my thumb. Underneath the spot I put it is a hole 1/2" deep worn into the wood next to the PU by my thumb. I moved the rest after about the first 10 years. This bass has well over 4000 gigs on it and only went into semi retirement in the mid 90's. It nearly killed me to sell it in 2007 to save my house from foreclosure in my divorce. I don't look at these pics very often because I get chocked up. I may get to see it in person this year, I've been in touch with the new owner again and we've agreed to get together sometime this summer.

Very cool bass and yet tinged with sadness. I had to sell a most favorite road-bicycle in '09 due to the economy crash and like you I don't look at pictures of it because I hate feeling regret. One does what one needs to do - such is life etc. Looks like it must have been an early '57 as the change-over to the split-pole pu etc phased in mid-year '57. It will be like visiting an old friend to see it this summer. Hope the new owner is actively playing it. Thanks for posting!

That is really nice! Sorry to hear that man, I hope you get the opportunity to get your bass back someday!

I doubt I'll ever get my old bass back. The guy I sold it too doesn't need the money and I don't have the money anymore. My house sold 10 days after I sold the bass which was rubbing salt in an open wound. I had the money then and went out looking for a replacement. I had no idea at the where to find one at that time, (I do now haha) so I spent the next five years buying basses. I finally figured out I would never be able to "replace" my bass. When I started looking I had about five basses 2, 4 string and 1, 5 string fretted and 1, 4, and 1,5 string fretless. 5 tot. I learned a lot about my preferences. Now I have 20 and could lose 10.

Hope things are going better for you, a custom builder could always take measurements and make a recreation of the bass, if you sell those ten, it could fund the custom build!
