… so by that extreme gouging on the elbow bout… is it to be imagined the player was perhaps, Iron Man? (and rusty Iron Man at that!) I think the 'distress-er' got a little carried away.
I thought that may have been where the player put out his/her cigar.
Or, that's where he dragged the bass on the gravel road he walked, using the headstock as a handle.

You know me - I love these player-specific road-warriors so when I see one I always try to 'read' them and imagine the player and them creating that wear.

A (old & used) stripped (claimed) '65 J body (only body) sold yesterday on eBay for just under $1k. It was authentically a 60's J but could have also easily been a '66, '67, etc. No way of differentiating really and by stating it was '65 would attract 'pre CBS' lookers. ($$) I really don't think it makes any difference which mid-late 60's year it was as far as functional value. As in, more or less the same end product as CBS used up old stock etc and vintage wood is vintage wood even if a few years apart. Necks are more easily identified, where as bodies such as that one are not.
