ATC, not a terrible price for that bass. I was a bit taken back with current eBay prices on vintage Fenders. A couple seem very reasonable within the ever-rising 'market value' of vintage Fenders.

Yes thank you Jio! I was lucky and happend to try a bunch of pre cbs and post cbs j basses at the time and this was a clear winner. It had the neck and tone that fit "the voices " in my head

Well, it has a few non-original aspects that keep it from 'original' but more or less it could be a player. Unaltered yes, around 10k.

Here is a sound clip of the 1965 fender above (the sunburst distressed jazz) in action from a standard called 'the night has a 1000 eyes'. Nothing sounds as good as a vintage fender

It does. I saw it at a consignment shop (Real Guitars SF) I frequent and was drawn to it visually. I thought, wow - but how does it sound? I sat down & plugged it into a vintage Fender guitar amp. It didn't take long to realize it was special in every way. I left but couldn't get it out of my head over the next week. I offered what I could justify spending (more than for any bass I've ever bought) and my offer was accepted. I've never regretted buying it. It satisfies my want of any other P bass - it's the only true/stock P-bass I own and for me it is exactly what a P-bass sounds like live or recorded. I have a recording of it here
It's long but you can hear it right from the start.
