SHOW YOUR G&L'S!!!!

I've assembled an entire SB-2 family (again). Black is EADG rounds, metallic burgundy is EADG flats, burst is Tribby beater BEAD flats and the the green is fretless w/EADG flats. That should cover just about everything.

Here's a nice '81 L2000e I recently got in a great deal from Chef. It's a fantastic player with a wonderful 1-11/16 wide neck. Chef kept it as a gigging bass since it had been stripped and waxed. I was looking for a late winter project so thought that I'd give her a re-fin. Came out pretty good.

Here's a before shot.

You know, looking through this thread, it's kind of embarrassing to realize how many of the basses posted I used to own.

Cheers,

Russ

Oh Snap!
While I liked the wood grain on that bass, I like your color choice a lot.

Well done!

Me too

Ummm, here's another one (I don't even know if I missed a few). Black SB2 fretless with ghostlines (slots/grooves where the frets/fretlines would be) and some streaking and whorls in the the ebony.

Hey Goldfish68,
What is it with Mopar owners having an affinity for G&L's? There are quite a few G&L'rs, myself included, who are, or have been, Mopar car dudes. In fact, I was an A-body man. Is your gold-fish an S-Package? Big-block? 340? I miss my '68 convertible very much. It was a great cruiser. Cheers.

And the pendulum swings back to L2Ks:

Brand spanking new. ~9 lbs. redburst ash with natural body binding and a rosewood board on a #8 neck with the new construction (plek, non-compression truss rod).

My science project. 1st generation Trib L2K body, 2nd generation Trib JB2 neck. What do you know, they swapped with no problems (other than what I assume are normal variation). I read somewhere that Trib and US G&L necks will swap just as easily . . . reasonable weight (probably also right around 9 lbs), #8 neck, great G&L tone and comfort. It's got my "beater"/backup/outdoor gig slot.

Snarfed of ebay a while back. 8.8 lbs, looks like alder (was advertised as ash but I don't believe it), #8 neck, matching headstock. It was pretty grimy (I thought it had the start of "grey maple board wear") but cleaned up nicely. I prefer the ash/rw combo tonally but this one is still darn nice.

For completeness here's the other product of my science experiment. A Tribute JB2 with a wide neck (that says "Tribute L2000"). The natural ash/maple board combo is a very clean look but the wider neck means it's not going to stick with me.
